There will be no shortage of open skirms, not every team would do invite only every time, but it opens up the choice for teams to either participate or not participate in skirmishes where there will be less realism, and less honor. To some people, those games seem to be a waste of time, other people enjoy them for what they are. I know of at least two team leaders out there in the community who have voiced a preference to invite games. It is important that there is something for everyone. Which means that I am not out to eliminate a place for "noobs" but I am suggesting a different kind of battleground, where the more serious teams, and the more equipped teams can play and expect a higher level of competition, and enhanced realism. This is not an attempt to apply a new protocal or tell you guys how to host your games. Granted, the ops and cqc events are great, but they are still open to everyone. I have been playing since I was 15 years old, and I for one am ready to see a more serious side of airsoft, and I think that to do that there needs to be some filtering applied to some of these events.

I really would like to see a game filled with a bunch of guys that are all through puberty using tried and true military tactics, in such a fashion that watching a video would be cool, and not so much funny. It gets annoying when you constantly have a squad filled with a bunch of 10 year olds in paintball masks, jeans, and a bdu blouse, carrying a cheap MP5, and either constantly on the radio, or whining about whatever. It gets me thinking of the human beatboxes and potheads that frequent Xbox Live that everyone mutes.

Here's something else to think about. Would emphasizing team-only games marginalize milsim airsoft? By creating what amounts to an airsoft league, would it become more like- dare I say- paintball?

Keep in mind that I'm just throwing things out there for you guys to comment on.

Yes, as an example, forming a Hockey League, it made it just like golf.

Or we could eliminate teams altogether and just play FFA games...

We tried to form an APL (Airsoft Pacific League) years ago, but it kept falling through. Some people wanted things done one way and others wanted it done another way. The infighting and bullshit eventually led to us all saying, "shazaam it, let's just do it the way we were".

I guess the beauty of having the event host decide the details, including who's invited, is that you would avoid those kind of disagreements. Forming a proper, highly-organized league would obviously be difficult to accomplish for the reasons you stated.

A perfect example of that - different teams use different FPS limits. And how would someone un-affiliated with a team get a voice on the 'League Council' or whatever - its not practical for everyone to mouth off with their view on any particular issue.

This is why it's my opinion that there shouldn't be a league council. Somebody should just start a league. Get a shitload of money, get a shitload of sponsors, get playfields and venues all over the country, have a totally kick a$$ marketing team, have expert planned competitions and mil-sim events, get them televised on spike or ESPN. Make it so effin kick a$$ that everybody will want to participate.

Now, after you've spent all that money, and all that time, do you really want Joe Bob from Team Douche to sit on a council and tell you how to run your show? I doubt it. But there's nothing wrong with feeling that way. If you're providing people with a service that they WANT that BENEFITS them, more power to ya!

Joe Bob from Team Douche will still show up, and accuse everyone of being hackers, because they're not calling their hits. Or Joe Bob will be the hacker who somehow managed to sit on a hill full of red ants . . . . . during a rain storm . . . . and ruin the event for someone ;)

Really, I think what you guys have basically just stated amounts to a league of sorts. The hosts of the events set the rules specific to the game, and invites are passed to team leaders via PM. If eventually, a "league board" were to be created, each team would have say.
