Separate in scope from our previous events, MilSim West's Patrolling Challenge will present a whole new level of difficulty for participants.
Not for the faint or weak hearted, this patrolling challenge will run from 1200 Saturday to 1200 Sunday. You will be in the field continuously, acting as a reconnaissance patrol tasked with completing a variety of objectives that can positively or negatively affect your overall mission. Each action and decision you make will have an impact on what happens in the future, as well as your team's overall score.
This will be a challenge based not upon "how many guys you kill" or flags you capture, but on how you act and make decisions under stress and the completion of your objectives.
If you want to run and gun, get a high round count and 'kill rate', this is not your event.
There will be lots of walking, and limited amount of shooting. This event is designed to simulate reconnaissance patrols in the context of a challenge based event.
If you want to be challenged mentally and physically; if you want to be forced to exercise critical thinking and analytical skills under stress, this is the event you have been waiting for.
Attendees should have experience with land navigation, team and squad tactics, be interested in fluid problem solving and exhibit teamwork skills. Further, you are expected to accomplish 24 hours of high stress mental and physical mission sets.
FAQ:
Q. What size is each team?
A. Each team will consist of 12-16 members.
Q. How many teams will there be?
A. There will be a maximum of 5 teams?
Q. Why is each team so big and there so few teams? Why not make smaller teams and more of them?
A. Each team is large like that because it accurately portrays the size of a patrol, as well as it makes it easier for game control. The current plan is for each patrol to have 1-2 lane graders with them at all times, and for at least one of those lane graders to be a US Military Veteran from a combat MOS.
Q. I only have 6 guys, but I still want to go. What do?
A. Join up with another group in a similar position, post up on the event wall saying you need x amount of people.
Q. What will the magazine restrictions be like?
A. Similar to the previous events. Maximum of one highcap, the rest have to be midcaps or lowcaps.
