All you really need is a field.
Price range for a game you're hosting should be $0. I doubt many people would pay to go to the first game you host.
There's actually a thread about preferred start times.
Length should be around 4-6 hours. Skirms rarely have end times though.

So host a few free games and then go from there. Sounds good.

Basically, yeah. Host some free games, and if you do it good, youl get a good reputation. With a good rep, you can start hosting for money. for the first paid game, you really just want to cover your costs, and keep the price as low as possible.

what is necessary to host an event?
Time, effort, A place, and Admins

what things made certain events more fun then others?
Just a well run game. If you have experienced players, things should run pretty smoothly, and work by themselves.
should i even bother hosting an event in the future?
Go for it! just plan, plan plan. remember the 6 Ps. Prior Planning Prevents Piss-Poor Performance.
whats a good price range?
first game, cover costs. or, $5.
how far in advance should the event be planned?
a month at least.
what should i know before planning an event?

what is a good start time, end time, length of op?
see the stickied post about preferred starting times in the community.
wheres a good place to host an event?
Ask around on the forum, and google airsoft/paintball places. some are professional/business owned fields, others are just a place to go with a friend. Give them a call, be nice, and they'll usually work with you. Be prepared to pay a sizable cost though. Its best to find a friends property for free games, and then try pro fields for paying games.

There are different option depending on where you want your game to be located. If, for example, you were thinking of mid-valley, there are a bunch of farms/forests that people typically use for free or low cost. Portland area probably means either renting a field or getting a very nice donation of space.

I would say start off by throwing on free Skrimishes, and work your way up from there. And then develop good storie lines and make tasks corllating to the storie line (of course), but just make it fun. And have good depth in the game play to keep players in the "OP" for the 4-6 hours.

what is necessary to host an event?
A privately owned location or public land (forestry or BLM) that you have permission to play on.
A chronograph.

what things made certain events more fun then others?
Objectives. Actors. Props. (Legal and safe) special effects. Starting on time.

should i even bother hosting an event in the future?
If you have a unique idea or a field to offer up, sure.

whats a good price range?
Depends on where you are hosting. If the owner imposes field fees, you will want to at least cover that. Don't look to profit from Airsoft unless you first build a reputation as a good host.

how far in advance should the event be planned?
2-3 months for OPs, a couple weeks for a skirmish.

what should i know before planning an event?
People will flake out. People won't listen to rules. People will litter your field and you will have to pick it up. Over-complicated objectives are stupid. KEEP IT SIMPLE.

what is a good start time, end time, length of op?
See the poll about event start times in general discussion. Most players crap out after 6 hours. If you plan for a longer game you need breaks.

wheres a good place to host an event?
BLM or public forestry land if you follow the land-use rules on the state regulation websites. (Fire safety, etc). Or any of the privately owned arenas or fields (mind you, the owner will charge a fee per person).

what is necessary to host an event?
Land, chronograph, A Safety plan.

what things made certain events more fun then others?
Props, and a good storyline.

should i even bother hosting an event in the future?
Yeah! You should if your first games was awesome!

whats a good price range?
$0 Everyone likes a free game :D . It really depends on the field(private fields will always have a head fee, Like Camp R&R or snipersden.) Public forestry land has to be free. Overall on private land its usually $15 to $20.

how far in advance should the event be planned?
Months in advance If its a OP. Scrimmages can be thrown together in the matter of days.

what should i know before planning an event?
Matt already covered this.

what is a good start time, end time, length of op?
Everyone says look at the poll, but all games start at 9am and kinda end around 3pm.

wheres a good place to host an event?
Many players have there own opinions on fields. So just pick one and hope they come. If you host it, They will come.
