Building a Field

Postby TheAirsoftSaint » Thu Sep 29, 2011 7:26 pm

Ok so I MIGHT be able to make a field out here in Independence, but I'd like to know what you guys would prefer, a CQB field or Outdoor field. Wish there was a poll option but thanks for your input guys.

That is actually perfect for an airsoft field, half CQB and half mid/long range, but the one thing I would suggest is to make sure that it does not have poison ivy or anything like that (I hate running into that stuff)

I'll make sure and clear it out, I'm highly allergic to it. It's not fun...

I was talking to an investor about making a field and honestly, it's IMPOSSIBLE to cover overhead unless you already own the property. Simple fact is, that this is a niche sport, and a new field wouldn't fare well without a ton of advertisement..

Also outdoor field with more than one group of structures to help divide gameplay evenly rather than creating one giant clusterfuck where nothing ever gets accomplished.

Fixed.

If you own the field, great. If not, it's gonna be expensive.

I looked into starting a field in Philomath on land that was privately owned. The owner only wanted me to improved/maintain the access road needed to get to the parking area. He also wanted $1,000,000 in insurance coverage. That is the part that people don't think about. Insurance. It's expensive. And you need it. There are to many potential lawsuits waiting to happen. The other area people don't think about is maintenance. Are you prepared to maintain the field by yourself? People say they would love to come out and build fields up, but when the time comes there is always work/school/girls/booze/life that stops people.

It is when you don't know how many games you are going to have, how many people will attend, and how much the actual policy is.

Even with per event insurance you still have to have a general liability policy on the land because its an attractive hazard. Basically you wouldn't be able to keep people off the land even with a 15 ft fence so they tell you to insure it for X amount and then pay for an additional increased coverage policy during events.

Also, insurance isn't there just to take money out of your pocket. Its a huge save when someone decides to be a tool because he stepped in a gopher hole and broke his tibia, or jumped off one of the buildings and broke his a$$ during an event. And I said WHEN not IF because it WILL HAPPEN if you are open long enough SOMEONE will sue you. Even if its frivolous, insurance pays for legal fees and all that shit too, so always useful.
