Long Island AAR

Postby Zack » Sun Jul 31, 2011 3:23 pm

We at Opforthewin are committed to constantly improving game play. Stagnation breeds mediocrity. To that end, I would like to open this thread as an after action review (AAR) for for Long Island.

The objective of the game was provide fair and balanced sector control gameplay, as well as enough variance (side objectives) to keep boredome from setting in.

What about this game should be sustained into future games? What about it went horribly wrong and should be improved upon? Why? What would you, the players like to see in future games?

Subject to consider: game style, objective placement, implementation, field selection and usage.

Also, for any of you who attended Tequilla Sunrise as well, how did this even match up? What improved? What degraded?

All input is appreciated, and will put to use in bettering games in future for the players, because that's who we host for.

I believe the Rebels and loyalists completed their objective fairly quickly. These objectives were pretty cool though. So I suggest either adding more objectives like this, or making these objectives harder to make them take longer to accomplish. I do like the "accomplish objective it's done" kind like those in Long Island over the ones in Tequila Sunrise that can be reversed by the enemy and then you have to do them again.
However with the secondary sector control objectives it did not stagnate.

Also loved the props. (Yay old-timey bombs.)

I think the way to significantly improve the game is to get higher attendance. How to go about doing this I don't know.

I think the game went amazingly well. I myself didn't hear any complaints from the Rebels side. The teams were balanced great and no objectives were obscenely hard. My only inquiry is that it wasn't clearly told to me who won and I still don't know. Id assume it was the rebels :D

Anyway; Great Game guys!
