I absolutely HATE IT when people do this. Their usual answer is, "it will melt." Well, 90% of the time it does not melt, but even when it does you have melted glass shards in the firepit the next morning. At Sniperz den, we have to clear up and clean up the fire pits after we use them. That means everything that went in there has to come back out. The easiest solution here is to NOT throw any cans or bottles in the fire.

First... for all the birthday well wishes, a sincere and heartfelt Thank You! And to whoever remembered I am a Single Malt Man...again, Thank You!

On to the game. To the posts commending the admin staff as being professional, competent etc...Thank You! But you were also right... there were nowhere near, enough of us. I saw and heard that comment several times, and it is duly noted.

Second, there was come confusion over vehicle rules and such...I think we as admins did not anticipate all the possible things that can happen with vehicles...how the crew interacts and what they can and cannot do, what kills a vehicle etc. So I would have to say there will be more clear vehicle briefings in the future, with a more specific set of rules.

For this many players on the field, I felt the majority did a good job of keeping things clean. I did hear some bitching about hacking etc... Though there were few isolated incidents, most of what I saw was not hacking, but rather intense, aggressive game play.

The players that did come forward with issues or questions did so respectfully and conscientiously...and followed the direction given...thanks for that. Case in point were the players involved in the Log Fort incident at the end of the day. I know you guys were all hot under the collar. Tim and I did our best to mediate a potentially nasty situation, as you all had valid defensible points. From a players perspective, I could have argued either side. From the admins perspective, we were screwed! Whatever decision we made would piss someone off...and probably did! But you guys swallowed the anger and abided by our decision and everyone moved on. Kudos!

Finally, it seemed as if all involved hung in until the end...I saw a lot of tired draggity-assed players at the days end, and that is a good thing! That means you were playing hard.

Thanks to Rick and my fellow admins...it seemed a little strange to not be playing, but is was a fun day all the same!

This game was fun. I spent all day huffing back and forth between spawn and certain death. That damned fort...

Perhaps we need a small group willing to go to Sniperzden and do some free clean up, clean up and better define the firepit and send a strong message to the owners that the community does not condone the irresponsible acts of a few miscreants. See if we can remove a strike or two and maybe give SniperzDen a reason to actually like airsofters.

Hi all,

Even though I spent the entire game more or less trudging back and forth between sectors 1 and 9, it looked like things went remarkably well, from a gameplay perspective.

My apologies, again, to the group that got an earful about starting locations. I'm guilty of not thoroughly reading the manual, which is my own stupid fault.

To the player on EDG who successfully safety killed a squad-sized element: you rock. Three or four guys with your motivation could have taken solid control of the two sectors in that orchard. There were one or two "What the shazaam just happened?" comments, but the vast majority of that group were like, "And we're dead...huh."

It would appear that the "25 foot zone of death" rule had an effect on the level of deadrag hacking and hit calling. Either that, or folks on AP are shaping up and playing the game right. I'd like to think it's the latter. I had one "Shut up, dead man." correction to make, but it wasn't worth implementing the "And you're all dead" part of the rule over ("Get some!").

As for "after action" items:

Vehicles -- 95% of the complaints I got were either from players firing on vehicles or vehicles firing on players. Like RBeran said, it's something that needs to be resolved. I'd say resolve it by eliminating the vehicles, but that's my personal opinion on the issue.

Admin radios/admin count -- I'm 50% positive I would have been unable to successfully relay an emergency message if the need had arose, and we ended up making a few consensus calls because of spotty communications. As it was, I usually had to repeat myself twice and get a relay from another admin to get back to the admin tent. This made it somewhat difficult to disseminate rule modifications and player watches. Like Rick said in the main post, there's not a cadre of equipped "willing admins" out there, so we get what we get. I can probably scare up a bundle of 5W UHF radios if that's what it takes to get proper communications for the admins.

Sector points -- an hour is an incredibly long time in a four hour airsoft game. I'm going to play with a couple of ideas that would let teams get recognized for "total time controlled" without having to park an admin on each sector to call in control changes.

Arms dealing -- this is an element that needs to be mobile or more central to gameplay. It's a hell of a long walk from sector 9 to the AD tent...

Dirty bombs -- I still don't understand these...and I've reread the book again.

Tyrant wrote:As for camping....what the f**k? I mean seriously, what the f**k? My God, I hate to be the stick in the mud but is blasting your music and shouting your a$$ off after midnight really necessary, when you are surrounded by people attempting to sleep? And to whoever it was that was firing within the campsite the night before, and you were firing a lot, please don't f***ing do that. I found bbs outside my tent, meaning they were ricocheting off of whatever you were shooting at and no one has f***ing eye-pro on in the parking area! Jesus f***ing Christ! That is all.

Sorry about the music. That was me. I lost track of what time it was and Rick ended up coming over sometime around midnight telling us to turn it off (thanks for the heads up btw Rick). Next time I'll just have the music off at around 10ish.

As for all of the other shit that was going on, yeah that pissed me the shazaam off also. I went to bed around 2ish (should have gone earlier as everything kinda went south after 1ish). I don't think I fell asleep until somewhere around 5am. There were a few specific people that wouldn't shut up all night. I ended helping one of them go to bed somewhere around 4am.

Also, to the guy who was blowing chunks for 5 minutes straight, that sucks bro, but next time you probably should take it a little more easy on the alcohol. Speaking of which a lot of people should have taken it a lot more easy.

For the dude that vomited on the floor of the honey bucket, nice aim.

Yeah man speaking of which that was Infidel. Props man you had us damn good! I saw you from far away, but I thought you were Medhi since my mesh made your Multicam pants look like Tan and you were wearing from what it looked like a OD softshell (maybe it was MARPAT, not sure). Plus you did the smart thing of holding your gun up and giving me a friendly wave. Oh well, next time we'll have to be a little more careful, since like Wombat said if you had a couple more guys you could have really messed us up at Point 9.

That was me. Thanks man for being really cool about that. I was just really pumped up and that rule escaped my mind there for a bit.

Now that I'm more awake......Beran, Happy birthday! Thanks to you and the others for acting as admin for this.

It is pretty evident that some folks take this stuff veeeery seriously based on the blatant safety violations that I saw happening. The vehicle issue can be pretty thorny. Unless you are used to interacting with them, it is easy to forget that they are not the ultimate machines of death. I cannot find the thread that was done on vehicle rules, we thrashed it out pretty well. If anyone can use the search engine better than I, please do so. We came up with some good stuff. In short. THE DRIVER MUST KNOW WHERE EVERYONE IS IN PROXIMITY TO THE VEHICLE AT ALL TIMES.Thus the 10' safety radius. Yes I invited friendlies to come up and use the rig for cover. I knew they were there. If you want to try a safety kill on the vehicle... ask the driver for permission to approach .........and see what happens! . To the safety kill guy ( ballsy but stupid) that is the reason I was griping at you. Going between the trailer and body of the APC will get you killed for real.....with no respawn.
The two ways to take out vehicles are with rockets or to toss a grenade ( tennis ball) through an open hatch. Yes taking out the vehicles can be tough. At the grid 18 redux game I got taken out many times with nerf rockets by patient , and well hidden adversaries.
You all knew the vehicles were coming.....need I say more about preparedness?
I enjoyed playing with all ( most) of you. I think I am going to try the admin role to get a taste of sorting out some of this stuff to get a better perspective. Oh and Thanks for the photos Matt. Happy Fathers Day to all of you Dads out there :D

Yesterday was an interesting day. I saw many different things happening, some good, some bad, some that made me laugh, and some that pissed me off. There were many things that the handbook did not cover, that it should have. There were rules that both sides were unaware of (or one side knew and the other didn't). Many of them revolved around the vehicles. In the future, if vehicles are used, I would like to see a dedicated admin in each vehicle.

Overall, it was a good game to start shooting people again. It's been too long. I want to thank P6 for leading EDG (and letting me rape fools with that SAW). It's always nice to run with commanders who know what they are doing, and know how to get things done. I had a blast backwoods sneaking to get that sector at the back at the end.
