Wow, that is what airsoft needs to be like....
I would pay good money for this event....
I have been waiting two years for an event like this...
Thanks, Bill, BSP, and actors...
Know what to work on for next time... Can not wait for it...

Here's a quick AAR of the 3 scenarios we ran:

Vehile Check Point
Objective: Teams were to search 2 vehicles for possible IED's and/or weapons that may be smuggled into the town of Marsha.
Observations: The 1st two teams (Navy SeALS & NATO SF) didn't find the IED in the 1st car. They did find the AK in my car but I did have a permit for it. They didn't really question why I had body armor or lots of radios though. The Rangers were very suspicious starting with the 1st vehicle, immediately detained us & called in EOD (they didn't want to risk setting off a possible IED themselves). Kind of rough on me, an old man though. :(

Knock & Talk
Objective: FOB Striker is being harassed by mortars possibly coming from or near the village of Tufa. Meet the village elders & determine where mortar attacks are coming from.
Observations: the SeALS and Rangers made it a point to set up a positive rapport with me (the village elder) as well as the local police officer. When my son showed signs of illness (appendicitis) they offered medical assistance in exchange for information. NATO SF threw in a curveball with a dedicated translator (coming into the village unarmed no less) but took more of a demanding, authoritative tone with me. When they tried disarming the police officer unexpectedly things went south quickly & all the villagers were detained. They probably would have gathered intel after interrogating the detainees, but I think their show of excessive force makes any future contact with the villagers difficult.

Raid on Mortar Position
Objective: Approach suspected mortar position, engage any enemy combatants, then destroy/recover enemy armaments.
Observations: Here everybody got some trigger time in. Us insurgents were in 1 building eating dinner when the raid went down but we scattered throughout the village. All teams did well (I was about to surrender to the NATO SF when I got injured but took a round to the face  ), but since the Rangers had the manpower they were able to pull off a successful assault with flanking attack on the village.

I wish we got more actors for this, but I'm happy with what we were able to do to make this a great time. Seems that everybody that came out to a surprisingly nice day enjoyed themselves. Thanks to Seagreen, Jerm_G, Crimmins & any other BSP guys for hosting this, as well as the other actors that helped make the scenarios interesting for the players. Thanks to Bigfoot for taking pics (where's the pictures of me? ;) ) and of course, all the guys that came out for a nice little game of military LARPing. :D

Thank you BSP and Actors. That was phenomelnal. APST had a great time. Had a chance to shake off the rust and learn some lessons along the way. This was a great way to begin getting the NW airsoft crew prepped ready for the next evolution of events. I think we are all in agreement that we had more fun with 1.5 hours or milsim than a day of force on force. Actors who showed up - YOU RULE, such a great job.
Actors who copped out - YOU SUCK  , opfor is crutial for these things to work.
You and your stupid F*ing rope...

I had a good time, had fun working with the other Ragnars (Battlesim). I would definitely go to an extended game, as long as I had cold weather boots.

Great game, great scenarios, 5/5.

Oh, if anyone finds a Crye kneepad out there, it's mine... Caught on a branch and popped out. :( I really don't want to go buy new pads, so if someone could go check out behind the village where the Rangers attacked from, I would greatly appreciate it.

One thing: More actors. ;) We had what, 5 to 7 out there? It was still a GREAT success, but I have a feeling that if we had 20-30 guys out there as OpFor, it would have been absolutely unbeatable.

Thank you guys for all the support and kinds words. The discussions we had post/during the event have definitely reinspired me. I wasn't sure if this type of event would be even supported in today's community....clearly, I was WRONG!

There are around 200 images....all are F'n epic. I've seen them....almost everyone has a good image of them, but there are a few that stand out as "impressive". He caught the spirit of the event....When you see them, you'll know. When you see them, you'll see why Bigfoot (Wes) is "our guy" for media. These are the best event photos any BSP event has had....ever.

Hats off to the actors...and the f'n participants. Let's be honest here...We the admins just set up the gameplay and enforce the rules.....The actors and the players are what bring it all to life and make it what it is.

You guys are dedicated. You train skillsets, and got into the mix on a train-up event. The actors showed up, took personal ownership in their roles and ran with them. Each team brought something unique to the table, none performed poorly, all showed a willingness to "play it as is lies" and took to heart the spirit of the event.

The greatest compliment I've ever heard about what we attempt to do was paid today, by multiple people.....

"This is what airsoft should be like."

Thank you. We have started the planning matrix for the BSP Challenge II, because of you guys. You've truly inspired us.

Hats off to the BSP guys and the actors. Your heart really gets pumping when a man in durka dress is yelling at you, and you're trying to zip-cuff him.

This was my first true "MilSim" event - and I learned a lot. Thanks again for the great time. The drive from Seattle was totally worth it.

I was happy with the overall attitude of all the participants today. Everyone was level headed and positive. The general motivation was to learn and have fun doing so. This is what I have been waiting to happen for a long time now. Airsofters actually having fun together without all the bullshit and ego man rage. I'm glad I took the time to cover this thing. Looks like the next one will get video coverage.

Thanks to the guys who set this up. I had fun today and learned a lot. The scenarios were the right balance of stress and fun. This being my first AP event I've been to, I think I chose the right one to start off with! It was cool rolling with John Boy and 5RAC, I'd roll with you guys anytime. Hope to play with you guys again soon!

Thanks for the awesome time today guys. Acting was absolutly epic. Between being thrown to the ground, having pistols shoved in my face and getting the chance to go rambo on a few unsuspeting foes was so worth it.

Ps; The teams that gave me candy and fig newtons were awesome =)

On a quick side note: does any one know if that rhino doll thing i kept using (pak-oh) when i was a kid has a story behind it? Has it always been at that village or did it just get found today?

Hey gents, I would like to thank everyone for the praise that has been given to the staff. As Bill said though it truly was all the actors and the players that made this event play out the way it did. So from me and the other staff thank you for all the hard work you guys put out. A special thanks to Battlesim and all the other guys who drove extreme distances just to come out and play today. We all hope to have you guys back for other events in the future. As event staff nothing makes me happier than seeing the players forget they are in the world of airsoft and their game faces come on. When reviewing the photos that Wes took, you really can see that in the faces of the players and the actors. We look forward to reading more comments and AARs as the days go by as we start designing and building the next BSP Challenge. Hopefully we will all see you there!

A little tired to write a huge AAR but overall it was a great time. I can say on behalf of all the Rangers we brought with us that it was one of the best airsoft days we've had.

Regular improves and I am sure Bill knows that I understand these things will be fixed and they already know what the minor issues were (i.e. lack of map, lack of OPFOR, lack of solid time hacks, etc) Well worth the drive and we will always be back for BSP events.

After doing airsoft now for over 7 years, I am extremely picky on where I play and what I do. BSP is one of 4 event promoters that I consider worth the time and money to attend and that's in the entire country. And no, John Lu is definitely not one. Bigger is not better. Better is better and BSP is simply better. They get it.

To the actors/OPFOR. On behalf of the team - I apologize for the take downs and the bloody faces. We really, really were on 1/2 speed but instincts and training sometimes get in the way. We appreciate all you do and understand it from both the player and admin side of the fence. You guys really earned your stripes today! Players are players but dedicated actor/OPFOR really make the event.

We appreciate the time an effort that went into this "mini" op that played better that three days in some "huge" Socal event that sounds like Kitty Paws.

To all those who didn't make it. . . kick yourself. Next time it won't be free but it will be worth every penny and I would imagine worth twice as much as BSP will charge.

We want more.
