For those interested in coming out with us some time, here's a bit of what we did and what CAG is about:
Day 1 we really hit the LANDNAV (Land navigation) hard, learning how to read a map, a compass and a protractor. We had our big whiteboard out and had some classroom instructed, by our beloved ODA315 (Former Green Beret):
Phoenix was kind enough to help me plot out a 10-point Compass Course that filled approximately one square kilometer, even going so far as to use 100m twine to ensure proper distance (which can be hard in thick woods):
Then we handed out maps and did some PEs (practical exercises) and found our pace counts, USGS maps and protractors were given to everyone, though in future practice, we'll cut down on costs by only giving them to pace men / compass men / Squad Leaders:
We ended Day 1 with some basics about the standard drills for airsoft infantry: React to Contact, React to Near Ambush, Break Contact and Squad Assault. Then camped and ate weiners.
Day 2 was a complete day of having three elements move from point to point and practice land nav, commo and battle drills. GOTSUM!
BTW all PLA/CAG: New Patches are in!!!!1!
