The end of the ABT era—for now

Postby SCROUNGE » Sat Sep 18, 2010 7:37 am

Well here I am, finally at this point where I think it is time to let everyone know that the ABT Airsoft Battle Field is not going to reopen. I did all I could that Clark County asked of me, but in the end it came down to them wanting over $1500 and then it would take at least 2 years for them and the state of Washington to say weather or not they would change the zoning for the property so that I could pay them even more money in property taxes, permits, and licenses. So I have decided to just shut this airsoft field down and not have to worry about getting a $600 a day fine if we were to get caught having some good times playing airsoft. At this time I would like to thank a EVERYONE that had come out and played or helped in building, filling sand bags or what ever to make the ABT field the great place to play that it was. I would also like to thank the fallowing individuals and teams. First off to my brother X, without his dream, commitment, and energy to make this work it would have never happened at all, he is ABT and everyone that ever played at ABT knows what a great guy he is and what airsoft means to him. If there was anything that anyone needed he was there to help them out, from giving you a gun to play with to fixing your broken gun to even feeding you if you didn’t have something to eat. There are to many things for me to list and no way that I can thank him enough for all he did for the field and for the sport of Airsoft. Then there is my other brother, Major A Hoe, even though he was more in the shadows of what went on, he was the one that made it possible for most of the paint that was used to camo up or put figures on the tin or wood pieces out in the field, he also made it possible to have our Cptn. Crapper, or port-o-potty. He also donated quite a bit of money to make other thing happen at the ABT field. His commitment to the ABT field can only be measured by the devotion to the sport of airsoft as well. I would also like to thank the teams of SOTA and Team Terror, who in their own ways helped us out with guidance and bring honor to our field. I would also like to thank Matt and all of his crew that keep the Airsoft Pacific web site open for all of us to use, with out this site we could never have become what we were. I would also like to thank Chesty from The Farm Airsoft field. At the beginning of this year he tried to get a lot of sponsors including some Clark County groups to sponsor the ABT field in hopes it would get the county to change the zoning, but unfortunately due to time lines by one of the major sponsors that didn’t work out either, but I thank him anyway as he was trying to help keep the ABT field open and make a big difference in our community as well. So there you go, ABT is shut down and I plan on putting the property up for sale after filling in all the foxholes, taking down all the barriers. If it works out and I can find another piece of property, with the correct zoning, we will try to open another Airsoft field, but that is way out there and will have to see what happens. So once again THANK YOU and hope to see you on another Airsoft Battle Field some time in the future. SCROUNGE

Truly a sad day. The first time I ever played airsoft was at ABT and I truly had some good times.

I'm sorry Scrounge. Government really needs to get out of the way and let us run our own lives.

Just so there is no confusion, the ABT Arisfot Team is still around to kick some airsoft plastic, it’s just the airsoft field the is not going to be open any more. I am still pondering a Last Bash at the field, kind of a “Fâ€

It is hard to hear these words. I would like to say a few my self.

X-You are a friend anyone would love and be lucky to have. I have learned a lot from you about airsoft and life in general. You are what this community and airsoft need to further the game. I will be there right beside you when we take it to the next level.

Scrounge-Your field has inspired many kids, adults, fatherless or not into a sport we all love and obsess over. I have played many games there and would be happy to host your "F" the county game if you choose to do so. Airsoft would be nothing to me without you and X so for that I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.

ABT, is now a legacy and I hope all that I do in the coming years will equal half of what you guys have done.

Thanks again!!!

My first airsoft experience was at ABT and I had a blast. Thanks for giving me a welcome into the hobby.

Also X, from the few times I did play along side you, I have to say. You're a sneaky bastard.

X is synonymous with ABT, and ABT is synonymous with honorable play and the welcoming of new players (as shown again with these previous posts).

X was the first to invite me along for some play when I started with airsoft. Pretty much all my sneaky bastard tactics were learned on the ABT field running with X, Couch, and the rest of the ABT crew. You will be missed ABT!
