I was writing from my phone last night so I couldn't post a longer thread.

AAR

PROS: Great field. Good game mechanics with minor tweeking could be great. Good number of Admin Staff. Good props (nice touch to actually have to carry and build something). I actually liked the respawn rules, but maybe a little clearer on the game thread. Good use of artillery, I like using the 6 digit grid system (although we need a map reading class...huh Rico ;) ..lol )

CONS: A lot more info earlier on, maybe not specific missions but como channels, maps, what the respawn rules are, ect. Maybe think about objectives vs respawn. If NATO's airbase was destroyed then where would the respawn be? Same thing happened with the Axis.. our SF Team destroyed their helo base..but then what happened? They respawned from their CP (which was closer to the front). Something like helo base close to the front, if that falls an airbase further back, if that falls, then beach landing even further back. This would give team's objectives throughout the day. You threw me a little curveball when you put all the engineers and demo together, I had them embedded into the platoons. SOTA was going to build the array according to my plan. These types of things need to be posted early. Also the airstrikes.. if I had known about that I could have ensured we had a dedicated person to do that instead of yelling "who has a green laser?". When using artillery, it would be nice to call in the fire mission, then just before the Admin drops the rounds the Admin radio in and say SPLASH.. I had a couple of coordinated attacks against their CP..radioed in for a fire mission...then nothing I couldn't get confirmation if and/or when rounds were coming in. Last thing, as the commander, I should have known what the special missions of my SF team were. I knew the first two, but I didn't know anything about the helo pad mission, and what the SF Team was required to do once they got there.

Overall I had a good time...directing traffic isn't fun but I did get to fire off a mag when the Axis got into our perimeter so it's all good. On that note, the Axis kept us busy attacking from the North which did not allow me to be able to set up a good counterattack. When we took an area, we held for a while then lost it again. Back and forth that went for the whole game.

Thanks BSP for putting this on....

Good fun. APST had the pleasure of running the SF missions with SOTA and Braddock and Catch 22 which was outstanding. The beginning of the game was a lot of hurry up and wait, but the Helo pad and OPFOR CP missions were lots of fun.

We set the charges on the Helo pad, only to find out later that we also had to flip the sector, so we went back and took it again =)

The ambush on the OPFOR CP was defiantly epic and will go down in by book as one of the coolest airsoft experiences ever. Kudos to Matt Rowell, Bad Karma, Braddock and the others for being sneaky bastards. Good show.

Thank you BSP, good event. The only complaints I have really had nothing to do with staffing or planning.

Gotta throw in props for APST... they were my SF Team. Their first mission was to located the NATO GEO, which was accomplished in record time. Inside the GEO were instructions to meet an Axis agent. They closed in on the meeting location and waited for over 45 minutes for the meeting to happen. They accomplished that mission.

When they met with the agent, he gave them instructions on how to disable the helo base. He did give them bad juju on the location tho. Once that was corrected, they headed towards the helo base. They placed flares on the corners of the helo pad and had to wait until they burned down (the one mistake was not turning the sector control to blue). Mission accomplished.

When we got stuff in order...Bill informed me that the SF Team had not turned the sector control... they went back in and turned the sector control.

Next mission was a snatch and grab of Darius.. the Team made it to within 40 feet of the CP, of course at this point half the team had been hit. They called in a fire mission on the CP, then went in. They didn't find Darius (sneeky fvcker) and since the Axis were respawning at their CP..well you can figure it out, but they didn't make it out!!

The point of all this is APST, members of SOTA, Catch, and Braddock did an outstanding job. Most of you didn't know what they were doing so I just want to point that out. They flanked around the field several times to accomplish these missions.

Yea that sneak attack on the CP was pretty intense. My battery had died at that point so I was just chilling up there as a meat shield, I'm turned looking down the hill then I just hear someone start blasting their AEG, so I turn around and see a line of people approaching, I get hit right off the bat (After turning around confused) and walked to the side to watch.

Thanks BSP for putting on a good game. Despite the nasty weather, I had a good time. As many others have said, you guys had a very organized and quick registration process. Also, plenty of admin on the field, that's always a good thing.

I'd kick the props up a notch next time, that would be my only suggestion for the future. Colored paper plates don't really put me in the mil-sim mood.

To the rest of the guys on the SF team, you all did a great job. Assaulting the AXIS main base at the end was epic. It was especially fun since a group of admin were there and I could hear them saying "holy shit" when they saw the whole thing unfold. The respawn issue is no big deal because it happens at every game where respawn is on top of a base or an objective, it was still fun to do the assault in the first place.

It was really cool to run with tool and Kevin again, it's been such a long time since the three of us have been on the field at the same time because I rarely make it out there. It was good to see everybody and great to be armed and dangerous again.

TOP - thanks so much for sacrificing your trigger time to do the important job of leading our side. I know it can get boring, but without your wisdom and your orders, we would have had a much harder time doing our job.

I'm sore as hell today. I've been lazy during the holiday season and it definitely shows after hiking around that entire field 3-4 times. It was only my second time at Snipers Den but I now feel like I pretty much know every inch of that field. These are things you can't learn from sticking to roads I guess. My chiropractor was like "holy shit, what did you do this weekend?"

As for the cleanup issue, let's not single out PLA folks. Sounds like other trash was left behind as well. This is not acceptable (not even at Splat Action). It's everyone's responsibility to police up their own garbage or waste, and if a receptacle is not provided, that means you take it home with you. It should be pretty strait forward. A good tip for that is to keep a trash bag or two tucked away in your car - that way your bottles or cans aren't making a mess in the back of your car, and if you don't end up needing to use it (because there's no trash), then you have a trash bag to stow your wet and muddy BDUs in on the way home.

What should be taken away from this is that it sounds like Everyone had a great game! Forget about that triffle of an issue and remember the trigger time! Get back on track with more AAR's. I love reading that shit...There I was neck deep in water, radio smokin, Charlie in my sights.....

I don't know if anyone else felt this way, but it seemed as if the field was very lopsided. Once axis got organised we were able to push back but only able to go so far because of the extensive fortifications in the city, even when there was a small group that was "helo'ed" behind the city, we were able to make it to one cover point before being taken out, partly because of a talking dead guy (I saw him point) but anyone who responded to the attack also had instant cover and flanking position. I know that is part of MOUT but when you compare that to the SOTA and APST assaults on the Axis base, they were able to take out a large number of people before being thwarted. The game seemed to be pretty fluid until the mass exodus caused by the weather, so it seems that a few more bodies on OPFOR would balance out the terrain advantage.

side note: Darius is a sneaky fvcker, there were 2 SF guys that got pretty close me when I was on his position and when we started to push back, I turned around to see if he was hit and he was gone.

My personal favorite moment of the day is when I'm standing on the land bridge across the creek at the foot of the Axis command post, and I look up the hill towards the communications array. It took me a few seconds to realize that the yahoos up there were wearing multicam and not friendly. I might have gotten killed by one of them, but I was able to relay to the crossroads that they were about to get ambushed before I got killed. Then I slogged my a$$ back up the hill.

On that helo base mission, it was news to us that we even had a helo base to protect, because there seemed to be a lot of confusion over this mythical helo base versus the airfield. Oh well.

I really think that comm array was poorly positioned. NATO's comm array, if the positioning was accurate, was inside their FOB. Ours was out in the damned sticks, relative to our position.

Engineers: stupid idiots need to stick around and get taped up next time. Running off like that left us in a tough spot. Live and learn.

Finally posting after waking up from being sore yesterday. The whole day was an "adventure" in of itself (getting my car stuck in the mud twice, forgetting my AEG at home & having to go back to get it) so I got Vidar & we showed up late. Aside from these setbacks & the weather I had a blast. Yeah, respawn & collection points weren't clear to me & all my comms went down due to getting wet, but trying to flush out snipers near our comlink was great (I'm looking at you Jester... I think...)

To all the guys on NATO, you did a great job. Coming in late allowed me to see how well you were moving & controlling the area. I was running with Mini-Marine & the engineers trying to skirt around the long way & get to NATO's airfield, but SOTA discovered us & we were forced to abort that mission.

I love the field and I hope to play there again, so I can only express disappointment & embarrassment that PLA left the camp area in unsatisfactory condition. Vidar pretty much said what I was going to in terms of my feelngs toward the incident, and I just want to offer my time to make amends with the field owner. I accept that PLA as an entity is banned from the field as just punishment, so if I plan on attending any more games I'll just have to show up in fancy MultiCam®.

Thank you BSP for this game, and special thanks to Seagreen & Riddick for pulling this off. I can't wait to see what game you have cooked up in the future. :)

Well, out intel on the location of the Helo base was completely wrong, and we still found it... and it was only a couple hundred yards from your CP, so I don't think it was too mystical.

I think Bill gave us the wrong coordinates on purpose because he wanted to balance the progress =)

17.9 17.9 put us right in the middle of a swampy blackberry mess by the way Bill! Thanks a lot!

I had a blast!
Seagreen, it was an honor to meet you, you will be seeing more of my money flowing into your hands for games.

Pros -
Good ol Big OP. My first Big OP (Besides bag of lies, i dont count that for anything but just trying to blow 3 rounds off before feeling the plastic death.)

Rain, lots of it. made it the most amazing amount of wet fun.

Nato - You guys did great, besides having the tactical advantage of starting a min or two ahead, you did great. there was only a few of you that wernt honorble, it comes down to two things, not feeling the hit on gear, or just cheating. i can honestly say, there was only one time when i could tell that someone knew they had been hit and would not call it. but either than that, very honorble. Also, The kids in ACU being laughed at because of a "sniper" hitting you... i think after the 5th time of being shot, maybe you should call your hits? : ) LAWL.

_Axis_ .... We all fought great and with honor, most of you have a sense in combat, or how to take it. but there are too many kids out there, they need to leave, they dont call hits, and are just a health hazard. 18+ please seagreen. Axis command. The crossroads were useless, sure the comms need protecting, but sending 2/3 of our troops to a place that just rolls out the kill count? no.. more people needed to be attacking the town from on top of the hill on the edge of town. not at the crossroads. seriously, with about 10 more troops, we could have pushed in, and taken the damn thing, but for the 5 times we pushed right to the edge of the forest to the edge of the town, we got pushed back from loosing our men in the push ahead, with no more men to keep the momentum, we had to fall back. This happened 5 times or more i lost count. but after that i stopped pushing, as it was no use with out the men we asked for. the roads could have been held with no more than a squad, me and two others held it for the first half hour no problem. i was dissapointed in this.

Dan, thanks for commanding us.
Brock, Your battle tactics are amazng, seriously amazing. looking forward to working with you as always.
Nox, Thanks for showing us the russian spirit, those sniper rifles and RPG-7's are amazing.

Goat, thanks for being a good meal in a cold night, sorry you didnt receive a respectfull burying.
There wasnt to much that got left behind, most of it i heard was redds stuff, and the goat from what moshpit was saying. I love the field, But it is wrong to BAN PLA from ths field. It was cold, and wet, getting sark, and everyone wanted to get go. shit happens, the goat is bio degradable, and the rest was redds stuff. let the banning be at a personal level, not a team level.

I really don't think that any of us are in any position to say that the field owner was even slightly in the wrong in deciding that he no longer wanted PLA's business.

We done upsidedown up.
