That was a great game, I'm very glad I went. The mud and water was, of course...very extreme. I do not look forward to cleaning all of my stuff so extensively as is necessary...but oh well.
TOP, I want to thank you for being an outstanding commander today. It takes a lot of patience to stay in the back like that and just direct people, I'm sure. Patience aside, you handled everything with clear skill and experience. You treated everybody with respect and had a great attitude. My utmost respect to you.
Ash, thanks for letting me roll with you and giving me orders and direction. You made my day out there that much more fun. You did a great job with your position. It seemed like you were really working to keep as full an awareness as you could, and then act accordingly. Way to lead from the front.
PAC and Jester, thanks for letting me roll with you here and there. It was very, very nice to have a group to stick to, even if I wasn't around all that much. You're good people.
Ivan, thanks for letting me borrow your battery! You're a good guy. I bet you regretted it after it enabled me to shoot you earlier on in the day.
NATO: I'm really impressed with the effort I saw out there. That was a hell of a game, and you guys kicked the crap out of some Russian scum.
New Axis: It seemed to me like you guys just got the short end of the stick in several critical situations. You guys pushed really hard at us around the CP and got really close to taking some important ground...there just wasn't quite that extra squad at the right time, etc. You played with heart and effort...thanks for coming out and giving us some Opfor.
I thought the organization was pretty good. My main complaint is that the respawn rules were not very clear at the beginning, and a lot of people didn't know what was going on. I thought more briefing/instruction could help improve a lot of the rough points like respawns. At the same time, we needed to get the game going, and despite the darnest efforts of the Admin to get the game rolling on time, people show up late. The admins were very professional and always able to answer my questions. I will be attending more BSP events, without question.
A note on the complaints about hacking: You guys need to remember that we were playing in the rain and mud. It gets very difficult to know if you were hit or not with large raindrops falling on you. I saw an instance or two on both sides of hits not being called, but I truly believe it was unintentional. I was frustrated a time or two when I was sure I'd shot a guy and he didn't call out...but I always try to default on the assumption that I didn't hit him. I don't think it was that bad. And I sincerely apologize if I didn't call a hit at any point. I was very confused a time or two from some of those big drops of rain.
All in all I had a great time out there and I think I picked a great match to come back to airsoft. My gun was in the toilet most of the game. It didn't work...then it did work but was shooting horribly and sounded horrific....and still I had a great day.
The community is great. Great field, too. I look forward to summer and spring games at the same place! A resounding thank you to BSP for putting this on (special mention: Riddick, Seagreen). I got 4 hours of sleep last night, before this event.... I'll be sleeping well tonight
Edit: added a thing or two.
