APST is planning on bringing a group to OP: Irene. Even though it is way the hell out in Kentucky, it takes place on an actual military training facility and the insurgents are played by an all-military opfor (basically, the facilities professional training opfor).
I might go to Lion Claws V as well, IF the field looks better than last time. Lion Claws III was in a cow pasture, and IV might have been the same. I don't get that much enjoyment out of a game in an open field. When you can see your enemy 300 yards away and there's nothing you can do about it, it's kinda lame. Chances are, they won't even release any photos of the field and 300 people will shell out $135 on faith alone. Unfortunately, after last time, I'm no longer willing to do that.
Meanwhile, I paid $65 for OP: Gallant Saber 2. We had 120 players, tracked vehicles (not just ATVs with plywood mounted to them) with mounted propane guns and gas M60s on an 80 acre wooded field with bunkers and varied terrain.... And it was right in Washington. The big teams of AP are looking to team up with Battlesim next summer to put together an OP of that quality again in this area.
