I will be the one to phony pony. Nato respawn=bull sh*t. Walking 150m up hill just to turn around and check in with the admin that you passed on the way up... In the first 30minutes I spent 5 in play and 25 walking up and down the hill twice for respawn. Im just repeating what I heard all day long. I do undertsand the new set up was to use the whole field. All in all, a good game though. lookin forward to the next.

But you were defending. Warsaw was ASSAULTING up hill... I assure you, it sucked as much for them as it did for you.

the game was great.
newer field. all the undergrowth was cleard in alot of spots making a creep almost impossible. my best bet was to go outside wide and to the right of our com tower. this brought me with in 50 yards of the comamnder. he was surrounded by rings of defence. first ring me and my spotter encountered was a small patrol sent out to dispatch us after my spotter got....SPOTTED!!!! so he double tapped one guy that was behind our position and egressed. all i heard was him cycle and a hit called..... i actually thought he got taken out. i laid still for about 20 min. i was alone and my radio went down..... was so lame, then the second patrol shows up, and its a counter sniper team. they think they see keith but the missed me completely, so i drew my pistol ( they were far too close to shoot with the bolt) at that moment of movement the spooted me, i let two rounds fly and missed, they take cover, and one turkey necks out to see if i have moved....NOPE! pop pop right to the head. then with his friend still in place, i low crawl to his oblique and see his a$$ end hanging out of a tree...pop pop....no call.....pop. ( i am sorry but i did have to say something along the lines of " you are going to call that right?" he replied, sorry i couldnt feel it on the back of my ghillie!) he got up and took a death..... i made sure that that kid knew his honesty was GREATLY appreciated.

this was my first OP in a ghillie, and i now see why this is a issue, some times due to the amout of material on the suit it takes alot of the impact energy away. i took a full burst in the back from some hit calling Ahole, but i only felt one BB. at the end of the burst.

you will not find a more honest player out there then myself... i am there to set examples of fairplay.period, my honor should never be questioned, expecially ON THE FIELD. i do not call gun hits ( this will soon change at BSP events i have a feeling) or ricochets.

best creep of the day was in the early morn, getting within 50 yards of the enemy command. popping a round at berjerklund and watching him duck and yell sniper. there was a dilapitated building ( which one i know!) that had collapses and formed a A-frame...all i could see was a ball cap and some beady a$$ eyes. i let off my round, BOOM HEADSHOT! all i could see was half a head, but i nailed it. then all i saw was a huge bore with glass mounted on it.....then it was boom headshot on me......berjerklund split my wig with his M14! bastard!.... i never could find the yellow tape with the serial number on it.

all in all i hada great day,in a hack free environment, on what seemed to be a updated field, till someone fell through one of those rotted out structures.

SA needs to do a serious update, not just rake the leaves and pile the underbrush up into fortifications, i mean serious work, or suffer the concequences of lawsuits.

see ya next time

Personal differences guys should be left off the event boards.

The respawn rules had to be that way Haleo, otherwise the whole fight could end up on any command bases doorstep, without a let up or opportunity to turn it around on the defending side. This is the first run for this event, and tweaks will be made to smooth it completely out.

We'll get it worked!

This is good to hear. There was some good and bad experiences on this event, but I feel that the good outweighed the bad by quite a bit.

The good:
-Different positioning of the respawns: It was nice to try something different for once, even if it meant more of a hike (for both sides). Due to this, it also meant the day wasn't centered around the village and those nasty stinky buildings within. The used areas of the field were a bit lop-sided, though.

-Player cap: I feel that the field was populated (for lack of a better word) by the appropriate amount of players for the size of Splat Action.

-Blank firing stuff: This is kinda minor, but it's still a positive. The use of them to start gameplay was fantastic, and much more distinguishable than trying to start at a specific time or over the admin channel. Using them as an audio prop for artillery strikes was a nice touch, as well.

-The changes to Splat Action's field: They weren't major, but the extra cover was significant enough to mention as noticeable and useful upgrades. Rebel Camp is an impregnable fortress now.

-Camping: Duh. Even though I'm a wuss and I sleep in my car, I always have a good time camping out at Splat Action. We kept Raddue sober enough to stay out of trouble.

-Lack of drama (almost): Aside from one or two incidents, there was a surprising lack of bullshit going on. I think it had something to do with the lack of medics (which is a gameplay mechanic that gets hacked easily), and a lot to do with the number of admins around. Thank you to the admin staff who helped keep a fair game going at the expense of playing themselves.

The not so good:

-Boundaries were not clearly established at the beginning of the day. This was mostly rectified after the first regroup at the command bases (when it was explained to Warsaw that we could, in fact, cross the creek), but external field boundaries were never discussed. Folks were unsure if traveling through and shooting from the clear-cut areas were out of bounds or not. Suggestion - Even though it's redundant, go over all boundaries and movement limitations during beginning mission brief.

-Respawn admins (at least for Warsaw) were, at times, bleeding impossible to find. It seems he was always wandering around a pretty big area of the respawn, so getting checked in was a bit longer of a wait than I expected. Suggestion - don't give respawn admins any other tasks than checking folks off.

-Number of cease fires called: This isn't really fair to BSP to bring up, since it wasn't their fault, but it affected the day enough to mention. The first two were understandable; one allergic reaction to [something], and then someone busted their head up after a tower collapsed. The third was some pansy that rolled his ankle and called a cease fire. Suggestion - go over proper use of 'cease fire' and address structural integrity of buildings with Splat Action, though I'm sure these are on the agenda already.

This was my first OP, had lots of fun, but got real hot and sweety, next time i'll bring more water. I struggled for about an hour with miss firing of my mid caps so i switched to my high cap. It took me all day before i started recognizing camo patterns, and there were a few times that i snuck up behind what i thought were my teammates only to have them turn around and shot me.

the respawn should be moved a little further from the path to the cars so that people don't get the urge to go to their vehicles, or take extended breaks.

the left bridge at the bottom of hamburger hill needs reinforcement.

thanks to the medic who checked out my shoulder, it is still sore but should be fine in a few days. After i hurt myself i went out and watched NATO's final assault on new warsaw. It was quiet epic, and it was a blast to just sit back and watch some game play.

It was good times. It was great seeing everybody, it's been a long time. I've got almost 4 hours of footage between the helmet cam and my main cam. Some of you guys got lazy after a few hours, but that happens at every OP. I think we'll still have an interesting video cut from this.

It seemed like everybody was having a good time. Seems like this game has had the LEAST amount of complaints of cheating or players arguing than I've ever seen... And I usually see A LOT of that stuff while I'm shooting video. Good call on the admin support.

Splat Action seemed exactly the same to me, honestly if they've improved the field I don't really see what they did because it wasn't apparent to me. But, one thing I did notice was that I didn't see ANY paintballers all day long, very nice! I could see Airsoft happening there on a more regular basis if they're willing to accomodate us like that, but those structures need to be reworked for sure.

Where were you? Warsaw spent maybe 15 minutes of the day assaulting "up the hill". I would say 95% of the game play was played in the lower half of the field.
I addressed this issue several times with Adam. With no resolution.

As for the field, I didnt notice much if any improvements, it seemed alot more cleared out. i am not sure if thats a plus. The buildings need some work. And also that bridge by Khe-san is about to fall into the river it needs some serious work.

I took a squad of men up that damn hill COUNTLESS times yesterday (well--tried to take them up that hill).

We mired into interlocking fields of fire from two emplaced positions everytime and could not get around it.

Bravo to NATO for digging in and shooting back hard.
Please buy your gear from Rick Fisher; perhaps he can buy a Life.

Pow! Right on Target. This made defending our Ammo depot incredibly lame. First it would be zero action for HOURS, so we would leave it and move up to the village looking for action, only to somehow get killed by artillery, walk back, respawn (this took a while, uphill in the mud) and return to the ammo dump to see nothing had gone missing.
I know this was a test run to figure how things work, so here are my suggestions:
1) if you change a rule during the game, please let those it concerns know, like those of us guarding the now useless ammo depot.
2) Use the field Horizonally, isntead of from corner to corner.
3) Tell the guys at Splat Action do do something about the mud traps they call "Bunkers" Seriously...Gravel...Sandbags, I dont care if you fill it with friggin glass, just save us from the knee deep mud!

Had an okay time, didnt really see to much action due to being tasked with guarding that which the other team ignored completly. maybe next time.

It was fun when warsaw would assault. Constantly directing people to reinforce different spots on the line was a challenge because it seemed they would hit the ENTIRE line at once. Good times. Christian, I saw you assault us so many times and I had a bb with your name on it...and I missed each time lol.

Kudos to the admins for helping this to be a pretty much completley hack free event/ Gotta give props to Nic and John for bein Johnny on the spot anytime someone got hurt.

So, I was with the guy who got hurt just before the 3rd cease fire. We radioed to command that we would like a medic to check him out, but had determined his injuries were not sufficient to call cease fire. So we were surprised when we heard cease fire. He took a pretty bad fall on a log and our squad (8-10 of us) decided he would be better to be seen by a medic. I'm not sorry that we called in, but I am sorry that admins decided to call cease fire. Oh, and we never did get a medic to our location. I had to walk him back to Warsaw command.

Anyways, now that I have some sleep in me and am thinking coherently, that event was amazing. There was plenty of trigger time if you wanted it, and plenty of down time if you wanted it. I would like to congratulate the Warsaw CO for having multiple confirmed kills. I wish the bridge thing would have been explained to us at the pre-brief. My team was tasked to cross a bridge in the first 5 min of the game, but than we realized that Nato had it, even though it was right next to Warsaw command. Getting stuck on the side of Hamburger hill was not fun, but I did take out 2 guys in the comm structure before I died. I was there by myself for about 20 min, with atleast 2 guys no more than 30 feet above me, but Gunny told me to stay on the hill, and I did.

Overall, I am happy with how the event turned out. BSP produced another great event. I look forward to the next one.

Good: Artillery
Setting respawns in a different place than previous ops made the game dynamics interesting.
Having COs actually DO something.
Different objectives, instead of just take HH or Village.
Player cap was good for the field size.

Needs improvement:
Better organization among the respawn admins
Better understanding of boundaries.
Dead people NOT congregating in a live fire zone and resting.
Dead people NOT using dead rags.
Some Jackassery, but it got cleared up quickly without much drama. (people trying to call other people's hits, taking 20 second bursts, using safety area as a shooting zone, people shooting into respawns, dead people talking, etc)

Bill, I'll get you a copy of my pics when I get home from work.
