COLD WAR
OPERATION: NIGHTINGALE

Presented By: Black Sierra Productions

The year is 1981. The United States and the USSR are at the height of the Cold War. Covert operatives for the CIA and KGB are performing intelligence and counter-intelligence throughout Europe and the Americas. You are a covert operative. Dark alleys are your battlefield, the camera is your weapon of choice, and as tensions mount between these two super powers it is up to you to help your country get the upper hand.

ADMISSION FEE: $25 (paypal blacksierrapayments@gmail.com )
AGE LIMITS: 16+ (Participants under 18 must have waiver signed by a parent)
TEAM REQUIREMENTS: 5 man teams (10 teams total)
WHEN: Season runs from August 26th - October 21st

REGISTRATION BEGINS NOW!

GENERAL INFO
Interested parties will submit a roster by email to coldwar@blacksierra.net
Upon confirmation you will receive:
- Codename for your team
- KGB or CIA designation (you do not get to pick)
- Email address for your team

DURATION 8 weeks

Teams: 5 CIA/5 KGB

5 members per team.
-Must be able to travel around the Portland Metro area
-Must have access to a digital camera
-Must be willing to have fun

Objective: Succuessfully survive and accrue funds from completed missions.

How to win: Team Survival and have the most funds in your operations account at operation index.

RULES
Each team will start with $1,000,000 in operating capital.
-The team will use this money to buy information from informants and hire specialists* (assassins, photo recon, ect)
-A successful mission completion will yield more operating captial.
-A failed mission will result in a severely lowered operating budget. (You won't get as much money to operate for the next mission)
-Each team member will be provided an email address to recieve handler* information

Each team will be provided a handler for your respective nation of operation.
-The handler will provide locations for mission detail procurement. (where to go to pick up your mission data)
-The handler will provide contact information of informants. Contact can be made through several avenues: face to face direct contact, email, or Instant Messenger

While out on a mission it is imperative that you maintain a low profile. If you are photographed by another team while on the job, this information will be submitted to their handler and the operative in question will be circulated throughout the intelligence community. Once you've been photographed you can be targeted for assassination by just about anyone. So in other words, don't get your picture taken.

SPECIALISTS
Specialists are people that have "special" skillsets that in the event your team can't achieve an objective due to personal schedule, time crunches, or location, can be hired to fulfill your mission. They all have their price. The best of the best will cost more than the bargain basement hitman. Based on how they perform, each specialist will move up or down through a ranking system we will update weekly.

The Specialists have a stake in this game as well. They are also competing to be the best at what they do. They can be hired as employee's, they can be one time contract players, they can also be hired double blind if you so choose.

-Teams will be provided with a list of specialists available for hire. This list will be based on rank from best to worst.
-Teams will NOT know the real identity of the specialist they hire. (codename)
-Teams can solicit specialists through proxy, if the specialist is willing to take a contract from an unknown party.
-Teams are NOT required to hire specialists if they do not choose to.

HIRING A SPECIALIST
-In the event a team elects to contract a specialist...whether it be long term, short term, or a single operation endevour, the team will contact the specialist. The specialist if they accept the contract will be required to email the Admin's (Seagreen and Deacon) to make them aware of the contract. The contract will be noted, date, duration, mission profile. Upon completion the Specialist will email the admin's of the success/failure of the mission they were hired for. This will affect the team's next alotment of capital. The deal struck with the specialist will be honored 100% by the teams.

Specialists will start with no money. Their first contract should require an upfront fee. (this will be lined out by the admin's...starting upfront payment)

Specialists will also have access to a handler contact. This will be an email address or IM system that will provide intelligence...or rather better intelligence on a target. This will cost the Specialist cash.

The Specialist at the end of the game who is "alive" and has the most capital will have the honor of being known as the "best" and his identity will be revealed.

Suggestion for Specialists serving contracts: Follow a basic clause: 50% up front, Success complete payment Failure, no further payment on the account. The original agreement must be followed.

HOW TO BECOME A SPECIALIST
Want to be a specialist in Cold War? Submit an application to coldwar@blacksierra.net so we can see if you qualify. Only the best may compete for the right to call themselves the top specialist at the end of the season.

This is your chance to sell yourself as a badass. Send us the following items:

- Photo of you in your specialist kit.
- A list of your "tools" of the trade (weapons, etc)

The entry fee for a specialist is $10.00

MISSIONS
Missions will be wide ranging. From photo recon and information gathering to assassinations.

- Photo recon: you will stalk, observe, and photograph targets which your handler provides. Don't get caught.
- From time to time you will deal with informants to gather vital information on targets, missions, and what is going on in the intelligence community.
- Assassinations: when the time is right, you may have to get your hands dirty. Do you have what it takes or will you hire a specialist to do your dirty work?

This isn't a weekend only experience. You will participate throughout the week, night or day. Online and off. This is an immerision experience. Are you ready?

***IMPORTANT: MUST READ & ADHERE***
THERE WILL BE NO AIRSOFT REPLICAS IN PUBLIC. THERE WILL BE NO CARRYING OF AIRSOFT REPLICAS IN PUBLIC. THE ONLY TIMES AIRSOFT RELATED ACTIVITIES WILL BE PERFORMED WILL BE AT LOCATIONS THAT ARE AIRSOFT FRIENDLY, SAFE, AND HAVE EITHER ALREADY BEEN USED FOR AIRSOFT IN THE PAST, OR HAVE LOCAL POLICE DEPT. CONSENT.

WHEN ON A MISSION/DIRECTIVE THAT IS SPECIFIED "AIRSOFT FRIENDLY" EYE PROTECTION MUCH BE WORN AT ALL TIMES THROUGHOUT THE MISSION/DIRECTIVE PHASE. THIS WILL BE CLEARLY OUTLINED IN YOUR MISSION/DIRECTIVE DETAIL BRIEFINGS.

DO NOT PROVIDE TEAM DATA OR PERSONAL DATA TO INDIVIDUALS OUTSIDE OF YOUR COVERT TEAM. YOU ARE OPERATING IN TOTAL DARKNESS. EVEN YOUR REPECTIVE CIA/KGB COUNTERPART TEAMS DO NOT KNOW OF YOUR OPERATIONS. IF YOU COMPROMISE YOURSELF, YOU COMPROMISE YOUR TEAM. WHEN COMPROMISED, YOU ARE NO LONGER THE HUNTER, BUT THE HUNTED.

ONE HIT IS ONE KILL. IF IN THE EVENT YOU ARE SHOT IN AN AIRSOFT FRIENDLY MISSION. YOU ARE OUT FOR THE REMANING DURATION OF THE GAME.

ALL RULES PERTAINING TO ACTORS (SEE CQC GUIDELINES) ARE APPLICABLE.

IF YOU ARE CAUGHT CHEATING, YOU WILL DISQUALIFY YOURSELF AND YOUR TEAM FROM THE COMPETITION.

TO BE CLEAR: THIS IS NOT GOTCHA. THIS IS NOT SOME ASSASSIN GAME WITH AIRSOFT REPLICAS. THIS IS A ROLE PLAYING ESPIONAGE GAME.

Question!

If the event occurs of a run in with the police? Such as if a player/actor is taking photos or checking out a location and a passerby or resident takes notice and calls the police. Should we contact Black Sierra/Admin/Actors?

During all mission phases a representative of BSP will be on location. At no point will any activity involved with this game be illegal in any way. We work within the guidelines of the law Kendo, not outside of them. :)

A player handbook will be available very soon concerning COLD WAR.

I completely understand that it's legal. I was just wondering what actions would be taken if somebody reported us doing suspicious activities in an area. Good to know.

Safety first. It is a solid question. We will be available on site and will have already prepared the location for the activities prior to the event launch to circumvent this concern.

We will not place any missions that would even create an issue concerning photos. (ie Jewelry stores, banks, ect)

Covert is the key to these missions. It obviously isn't about making as much noise and drawing attention to yourself or your group.

Wow Bill, it's like you read my mind, and made the idea into a reality. I have been looking at a way to make a espionage game ever since I watched the Bourne Identity, which was some time ago. What is a specialist anyways? Are they strictly hitmen? Or do they come in a wide variety of types? I am so interested in this game.

Guys,

You're going to want to put together a 5 man team. This is very important because it allows you to work around the schedule. If you can't make one of the missions or directives, at least one or two of your teammates will be able to fill in.

I highly recommend finding some like-minded people and forming a roster.

Directives will not require excessive amounts of time, a few hours for missions.

I wouldn't advertise involvement guys, I'd just ask questions. Otherwise, targets can and will be identified prior to event launch!

Will a picture like that equate to an assassination? Or will assassinations have to be with an airsoft replica? Basically what I guess I am asking is will a player be safe if they aren't in an airsoft friendly environment?
