That said, here are the details of Operation: Enduring Horizon
What's different about this Operation?
This operation will be executed in a manner similar to Airsoft Pacific's CQC competitions. You will be registering in teams of 12. This is a competition to test your teams tactical ability, problem solving skills and combat skills in an outdoor environment. The operation takes place over an approximate 5 mile area. Your team will be issued orders for each specific trial and then be ferried by military transport to the incident site. Your teams performance will be graded based on completion / non-completion of objectives. There may be subjective scoring involved as well, (ie; your designated marksman will be required to assassinate a command element. This shot will be scored based on accuracy.) To ensure fairness and consistency in the trials, you will be facing event staff as the opposing force. None of the event staff will be competing in the event.
Does this mean downtime while my team waits for its turn?
No! All four teams will be cycled through the different trials simultaneously. For the final trial, the participants will be split into two teams of 24 (your team plus one other vs. the remaining 24 participants,) and you will battle for possesion of a critical supply bridge. This battle will be punctuated by occassional artillery strikes. The artillery is a non-pyro effect. Yes! They do go BOOM and blow earth and debris skyward. This is about as close as you'll ever want to get to the real thing.
How about velocity restrictions?
Standard AP Chrono rules apply as follows:
Fully/Semi Automatics - 400 fps (1.5j)
CQB/Indoor - All under 330 fps (1j)
Sniper Rifles (Bolt Action ONLY) - 550 FPS (2.8j)
*Limits Measured with .20g B
What about hits and outs?
Each individual trial will be handled as an elimination round. If you get shot, you are dead and out. At the conclusion of each trial, the dead will be raised and off you go to the next trial.
The final trial over the supply bridge is a timed event and will utilize a 5 man respawn rule.
Call your hits! We've all heard it before and you're going to hear it again. Call your hits, don't call others. If you have an issue with a participant on the field, notify a member of the administrative staff. Fight with honor and integrity.
You mentioned vehicles, what's the big deal?
In an effort to offer a true Military Simulation, we have constructed an operation that is spread out over a fairly large area. Larger than most of us would care to hike. Because of this, it is necessary to utilize motor vehicles to transport troops to and fro. We are confident that this 'road trip' will add to the illusion. "How so," you ask? Here's a couple examples of what we have in store for you.

What about cost?
The cost for this event will be a donation of $10 dollars. This fee is to offset our expenses for fuel, props and such.
What time is the event?
You must be onsite and ready to go at 9:00am. Given the nature of this operation, and the logistical challenges of parking and getting everyone where they need to be you must be ready at 9:00am and you will not be able to leave until completion of the operation. If you want to leave early, you will be hiking 5 miles to reach your car. We do not have the staff to taxi your sorry butts around. If you cannot keep this commitment, do not make it. The final trial concludes no later than 6:00pm.
Are there any age restrictions?
You must be 15 years or older to participate. If you are under 18 years of age your parent or legal guardian must sign your liability waiver. Waivers will be required by all participants.
Is there a limit to the number of registred players?
Unfortunately, yes. The very nature of this operation makes it staff intensive. Because of this we must limit the number of entries to 4 teams of 12. These slots will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Those without team affiliation or who are unable to produce 12 players should inquire about joining other participating teams who number less than 12 members. It is imperative that you have a full team of 12. While we would like to welcome everyone to this event, we simply cannot without compromising the quality of the event.
So where do I register?
Registration is currently not open. Stay tuned to AP's boards for the announcement when registration is opened. Take advantage of this time to get your team roster together (don't make a commitment if you cannot keep it.)
Operation location details will be released as the event draws nearer.
Cheers!
