I have had conversations recenly with some of you about the increase in newcomers, and how that effects to realism, and honor system or the games.

As we noted, as more new people come out, the open skirmishes have more conflicts, more hacking, and fewer people in believable loadouts.

This is why I feel that there should be more games that are at an invite only basis. The hosting team can invite other established teams who are noted as honorable players.

Teams can allow the invitees to bring guests or recruits, or even ask that certain players from the team are not allowed to come. This is the power of an invite only game.

It seems like aside from the mil-sim events, skirmishes do not present the feeling of realism that this sport is designed for. This would be a first step in making arisoft better.
You and your stupid F*ing rope...

Interesting thought, team only games and recruit tryout skirmishes?

Like I was saying, the peers will likely have the greatest effect on the honesty of it's members, so I would have to agree that having the teams manage it would be the best idea. If a team member starts being a douchebag penalize the team, he'll learn. I know if I start a team (which I hope to do so) there will be a strong possibility of an a$$ beating for cheaters!

Firing squad could work too...

Expulsion is more effective than physical punishment. No matter how deserved it is.

Consider that making events teams-only or invite-only could make it more difficult for new players to get involved in airsoft. Sure, teams could bring "recruits" to games, but what about someone who finds this site online and wants to come out and play but doesn't know anyone?

I agree that using teams to moderate player behavior is probably the best bet. I'd just want to be careful that such a system didn't alienate anyone by making the community exclusive.

Well, in a way it is exclusive: you have to be able to be the kind of person that a team wants to have run with them, and that team has to either consist of guys who are in good standing, or a team that has been in overall good standing for a while for you to be invited to these games.

This isn't exclusive like the Daughters of the American Revolution exclusive; this is just exclusive enough where you have to have your act together, have at least a little commitment, and the minimum of equipment.

By being "exclusive" like this we can help weed out the retards and the cheaters.

I doubt you'll see open skirmishes go away anytime soon, but invite-only games are a way for people like myself (who don't want to have to deal with all of that bullshit during my time off on the weekends) to go to a game and not get frustrated with the community.

Interesting, without exclusivity can you have teamwork?
I for one would rather be on a team of 5 OSK, than one of 50 individuals.

Pretty soon the system will HAVE to be exclusive, unless you want 500 people at every OP. There becomes a point where too much is just too much. Not everybody can attend every game, some games have player caps, some areas just flat out cannot support more than X amount of people. If I had to choose 200 people who are all involved in Airsoft teams vs. 200 people who just found out about Airsoft on the website I'd opt for the 200 on the teams.

Thats just horrible! I cant believe that anyone would rather have 200 people who had made the financial and emotional commitment to be a member of a given organization, or be an associate of a given organization, than the masses of unwashed noobs who think that a set of battle dress, and a cheap springer means they have been playing for two years! Oh Dantes, how dare you even suggest such a travesty?
