The firefight was good times. Different dynamics fighting in the thick sh*t.
Lets see... the rest was... uhm.... another hike through Hades.
We staged an incredible ambush and the Red team would have been erradicated if only we'd staged it on the correct road. We all enjoyed the nap though. (In defense of our scouts, that place is a tough one to navigate.) ;)
I especially enjoyed the decent through the man eating undergrowth as we scaled rotting logs suspended 5 feet above patches of thistle bushes, stinging nettles, water hazards, blackberry bushes and holes that could snap a femur like a twig. (With the burning sun beating down upon us.)
We arrived at the next designated fire zone, but the enemy had given up hope of our arrival and headed back to their cars long before.

Still better than any day at work.
Enjoyed working with you tool.
Niall, it's always an adventure, thanks.
..and thanks to our two scouts who led us from despair back into the arms of civilization. (Sorry.. I didn't catch your names guys. All in all you did a fine job navigating that nightmare.)

Cheers!

Well due to my mistake my fire fight lasted all of 2min since I forgot to wind my clip lol. But I did like that small part of the woods was interesting but the hike in made me tired as hell.

My appologizes to my team for makeing you all stop while I rested to choke back the urge to hurral and pass out. The amubush we were supposed to walk into would have been nice, too bad we missed each other there. Our scout did a find job leading us to the evac.

The long hiking aside it would have been a great day if everything worked out as planned, but thats life...it never works out as planned lol. Very intreging scenario, I liked the complexity to it.

Anyways next time note to self eat breakfast before going on long hikes...

tool, Us young guys have to look out for you Rest-Home Fugitives, it's my pleasure.

Read the rest of this with a bit of humor... Red Scout (Soyuz) even though he started in the wrong location, he did get to where he should have linked with his people... If they had not shot at him he would have guided them. :)

2nd Phase, the Ambush. Yes, the Blue Scouts were on the wrong road. But, One of them had scouted that road two times in the past.

The last engagement that did not happen was a mix of (I think) poor directions on my part and, I am guessing, and a big shot of "I am tired."

I did hear that there were some complaints about the distances and the difficulty of the field. Yes, it was hard moving at times. Welcome to the real deal. I for one have been in the field for a month at a time where we did not see the enemy once. Yes, it is fun to shoot at people non-stop for six hours, but why leave the parking lot if that is what you want?

So, those of you that have been out there, today and last month. Tell your friends you survived. For some of you it will be as near to being a real soldier that you ever be. For those of you who did not come out but want to... Leave your Barbie Dolls at home, it's not play time!

I had a good time, hot, tired... I'd do it again and will! Maybe we will hit the big hill in the center of the field next time!

I want to thank the Highlanders and the other red team members, great attitudes out there. I think we all learned alot out there. Heat was really starting to get the better of me by 1400 hrs. Lesson of the day: While crawling around on the ground, evading the blue teams scouts (around 1100 hrs) before even hooking up with red team, I managed to loose the tip off my hydration pack mouthpiece. So, after loosing practically all the water out the hose, I started to have some difficulties as the day went on. Going back to look for the mouthpeice near the enemies line was.....I don't recommend doing it.

As far as our field goes, you either love it or hate it and that's what I love about it (the hate part). You have to use your wits out there, you learn because you have to! That and the whole place feels like an ambush waiting to happen.

Thanks again guys.

Most of us do this for pleasure... Beating the brush for a month without contact may be the 'real world' but it aint much fun. Mil-Sim is not truely the objective so much as Mil-Action-Simulation is. After all, who would buy the K.P. expansion pack for Battlefield? Or the lame a$$ "pull guard duty all night" booster pack?
Poor investment I'd wager.

For what it's worth, my experiences out here have been memorable. True adventures. Not great airsoft, but good memories and stories none the less. If you are really hungry for the 'actual' or 'complete' real life experience you could always re-enlist... I prefer weekend wars where I can shoot the bad guy, get killed and still bang the wife all in the same weekend.

I'm funny that way I guess.

I am a sick bastard! I would buy the "Pull gaurd duty all night" expansion pack. Anybody up for a game of "If you get hit, go back to your respawn and wait an hour before respawning back into the game"? That would change some things, wouldn't it?

I was very tired when I got home. But I will admit that walk up to the starting place sucked. Other then that i didn't mind all the walking and hiding and such.

The Red team was expecting that ambush the whole way back, untill we got to the big road. Then we were all like "ahh, screw it they aint coming." and just shot all the ammo left in our guns, in the water, at flowers, and other plants. I personally LOVE that field I don't know what it is about it. But i like big fields like that where you have to use tactics.

I don't know who our pointman was on Red team but he did a great job of not getting caught in an ambush. He would slow the team down or he would go take a look himself and let the team keep going.

Big thanks to Soyuz, He was able to leads right to where we wanted to go. When ever we were stuck he came up to the front and told us where to go. for some reason i LOVED the way his gun looked lol. I'm not a scout or anything but that would be pretty cool to do that to my gun.

AGAIN, big thanks to our pointman, Soyuz, and the other Red Team members. Great game guys! had lots of fun with you guys and i got to catch a few of your names see ya around. 8)

I am a Disabled Vet. and I have a "Bad Attitude" per the Army (Meaning I had a hard time keeping my mouth shut when a superior was being stupid).

I can overcome my disabilities (Chrondro Malaiseia Left Patella and Three Ruptured disks in my neck) on daily outings, but I honestly doubt I could hang in the type of unit I was in back in the day.

This all goes back to what I say every time I post an event for Donnahue Creek... "This is an ADVANCED Field."

I think I will on the other hand offer a Land Nav course for All of AP in the near future. (NO GPS)

True, in technical terms, I was not the point man. I hung back a few spots and pointed out the direction to go in. I wasn't up in front untill the last 20 minutes or so of the event. John did good, looked back every minute to check the teams status, kept things moving along.

I've been looking around for any web site the Highlanders have. Should I just PM you guys here at AP instead?
