Rhododendron Wars......
(this isnt set in stone quite yet now)
Date: May 20-21st
Well, every year in Florence the famous
Rhody Festival is held.
Friday the 19th it kicks off with "live music and dancing".

Saturday the 20th a smaller "kiddie" parade is held, so the younger members of our community can get their chance to participate in a parade of their own.
Sunday there is a Grand Parade, with many marching bands that come from all over Oregon to play. People walk around and throw candy at bystanders, and there are many floats from various local companies and such. There is a Corvette club with like 50 corvettes, a Mustang club(I think), and various others. I belive that the parade's theme is"the best years of our lives".

Friday, Saturday or Sunday-There is a car show, which is a very fine one(some amazing cars). Also, the carnival will be visiting starting thursday or so. In old town, hundreds of bikers reside, some even coming from California. Many people bring their ATV's and take to the local dunes. Others bring their RV's and many camp here for the weekend. I think the Chowder blues and brews (yes, alcohol) is held during this weekend as well, which features music, a clam chowder contest, and other such things. Alcohol companies set up chain link fences and bales of hay so people can drink outside legally.
Our Proposition: On Saturday the 20th we are considering holding a Airsoft game. Milsim. You guys could come on Friday or Saturday and either just attend the game or hang out for the whole weekend and maybe watch the parade and enjoy the attractions.
The game: As for a scenario, we have a sort of North Korean vs. U.S. complication in the works. (APST, we are definitely willing to collaborate on a scenario) The field is great (not the sand field, this one is much larger), and is a somewhat unique wooded environment. We may have food and such available for purchase (hopefully). Anyway, this isnt' totally for sure yet, but I thought I would post this to get an idea of who is willing to attend, as Airsoft is definitely not the only thing happening. It's always a fun weekend and it's definitely a shame to miss. Woot!
BTW: The game would be held on Saturday for obvious reasons, since few people want to watch other peoples kids walk down the street with firetrucks and riding lawn mowers. Also, I am in Siuslaw High School Symphonic Band, and one duty of mine is to play in our Marching band for the day.
