I did think I had more photos to share, but apparently I was focused on the build, not sharing. Here is a photo of the completed project, it is a beast and shoots very well.
The large buffer tube allowed me to install a Gate Airsoft WARFET and still gives me room for a 1000mAh 11.1 Turnigy Lipo to slide right next to it. I had planned to install a BTC Spectre, but the gearbox this is a V2.2

Once I grenade

I did pick up this AEG at a very fair price from a airsoft friend at Summer Slaughter. It was gently used and came with 3 midcap mags. This was the perfect start to a DMR platform. I wish I had more photo's, sorry, here is the lower, no paint. The rest was already disassembled and going into the media blasting cabinet.
OK here is the stock and rail, before

Into the media blasting cabinet. This is glass bead, not sand.

Rail is done, not perfect, but my new Favorite paint does not require it.
Also the plastic stock.
Cleanliness is UBER important, always clean parts with a grease and wax remove before painting.
The rail and stock is done. I also did the grip, and other small parts, sorry no images

I'd like to introduce my new favorite paint: Brownells Aluma-Hyde, this is Magpul FDE. The key with this is it can be air dried, but the air moisture content needs to be low. I went back and cleaned and resprayed my MK18 upper (see viewtopic.php?f=18&t=44278#p687799 ) so it matched the rest of my Magpul parts better.
It was summer and a hot day so spraying outside was fine, it cured well. I did need to bake my MK18 upper in the oven to cure the paint.
Here is the link to that forum: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=44278&hilit=MK18
Here is the rail
HK painted rail and stock next to the Magpul FDE stock and grip on my MK18, awesome match. The upper has not been repainted yet, notice how tan.
Gearbox time. Here it is out of the AEG, excellent shape ... but needs some work

Notice the cracks on the top of the piston? Replacing it was always part of the plan
I like VFC's but not a fan of the self-shimming GB. That gets shimmed

I used the same cylinder, but non-ported, cylinder head and piston as the MK18 build. Also had a spare new Madbull PX-02 piston. Small picture below.
Here is the GB assembled, notice the trigger wires .. yes rewired for the Gate Airsoft WARFET. The 2 trigger wires route up the buffer tube alongside the 2 battery to motor wires.
The buffer tube is huge, I can put the WARFET next to the battery and it fits with room to spare.
Lower assembly complete
Well almost complete. This a DMR and while the WARFET can be locked to semi only, I wanted a mechanical lockout. Disabled the lower and tapped it for small hex screw, then everything back together.
Here it is all completed.

Here are the chrono test results with 0.28. I did fire about 15 or so to set the hop correctly.

0.20 BB weight equivalent in FPS is 477 fps, a true DMR
I got to run this at a few games this summer. I'm very happy with the performance and consistency.
Here is the link to my MK18 build that I hope you will also find interesting. viewtopic.php?f=18&t=44278&hilit=MK18
I also have a small forum on Airsmithing & Airsoft Tips and Tricks - viewforum.php?f=169
Have some more projects already filmed, just need to edit and publish.
I hope you enjoyed, and I welcome comments.
