Today I became aware of an issue related to the roles and responsibilities of our Recon Sniper Bolt / Recon Spotter positions. I need to clarify it now in case anyone needs to change their role. I am only speaking for NATO; OPFOR may have a different view.
A RECON Sniper/Bolt is paired with a RECON Spotter to complete a RECON Unit. The Sniper carries a bolt and the Spotter carries an AEG and is support for the Sniper. This is a TWO person unit that reports directly to Command … NOT attached to a squad in anyway. A RECON Unit my temporarily be assigned to a Platoon or a squad for a specific mission, but that is at Commands discretion.
A RECON Unit must have a radio and be prepared to sit for long periods of time doing nothing but WACHING and collecting INTEL. A RECON Unit is Commands Eyes and Ears in the field, a very important and demanding role without much action or prosperity.
If you have registered for a RECON Unit position thinking it was something different please make the appropriate changes.
Thank you,
NATO Command
