Specdet has a female member, unfortinately she is out of the state right now...
But also, I would agree that the female turn out has increased over the years, like Shortbus said there were like 3 at ricks last game, and I know at last years Summer Slaughter there were at least 3 on the field playing. Many girls initially come out with their boyfriends or fathers, only a handful tend to continue to come out over time, wether that's because they aren't treated well on the field or because they find other interests, it usually just the case. The fact that it's a male dominated sport with a varying range of ages, means girls have to put up with young teens who don't always know how to deal with females (and generally don't understand them), 18 to 30 year olds who tend to have an over active sex drive (and generally don't understand them), and the then us old guys who tend to either be set in our sexist ways or not really care/notice their presence on the field.
None of those situations sounds like a lot of fun to me... but to each their own.
On the other hand I would like to relay this story of a young lady that was on the field at Ricks last event.
I was rolling up the back side of the hill near the log fort, as I approached I heard fire from the top of the hill I moved foward till I saw two players crouched down behind a bunker, and at the top of the hill a player in jeans and a black tee firing down at them. I could not identify the camouflage of the hunkered down playes because of a row of ferns, so I waited ans watched, until finally the jeaned player just ran away. I slowly moved up behind the two remaining players, my gun drawned on them in case they were enemy or were just going to fire before properly identifing their targets. I got within 15 feet of them and saw they were fellow green members, just before the player on the left turned to look back at me. I held up my hand in the hold signal, she looked at me say my green pants nodded and turned back. I turned right and began straifing the hill on a trail moving away from them. I got no more than 25 feet from them when I heard "safety kill". The gentelmen she was with had just "shot" me in the back. No target identification, just pure blue on blue, friendly fire...
I later found out that she was there with her father (the guy who had safety killed me) I watched them on the field when I could and, and talked to them a few times back at spawn, from what I saw she was a better player than her father, she just didn't know it yet... I never got her name, but if you're reading this and continue to airsoft, I hope to see you out on the field.
