can my m4 work as a XM177E2 for a Vietnam game?

Postby celtic33 » Fri Mar 28, 2014 9:31 pm

hello everyone, my question is, can my black ops M4 look like an XM177E2 from Vietnam? it looks almost the same to me but, are there any more ways to make it look more like the XM117E2 ?

Thanks

using a 20 rd. magazine and adding an extended flash hider should get you pretty close

Swap the upper receiver with an A2 upper, get slim handguards, find a CAR-15 stock, and the extended flash hider.

Bam, you basically have an XM177E.

To get the proper look, it looks like your barrel would need to be a bit shorter. Your stock is fine, but if you want more authenticity, follow Hamster's advice and replace your upper receiver with the A2, which does not have a detachable handle.

Also, keep in mind that many people who host reenactment airsoft events will accept replicas that aren't 100% accurate, as long as some effort is put toward matching the look. I've seen many replicas partially wrapped in burlap to conceal inauthentic features, for instance.

The only real issue is the length of your barrel. I'd be hesitant to have one of mine chopped down and finding someone to chop it and then thread it for an authentic flash hider would be a pain. Also, the 20 round mags are a must. They always look so classy.

The XM177s also had an 11.5" barrel too, right?

So yeah, replace that 14.5" outer barrel, grab one of the flash hiders, slimmer hand guards if you'd wish, and cover it in burlap to hide features of the upper, and you'd be able to pass the distance test with your M4. Thanks to China, this stuff is pretty easy to come by if you look hard enough.

I have no idea about those Black-ops walmart bbweapons, so I have no idea about upper-lower receiver compatibility. Read they're APS rebrands or something.

So if you want to also pick up the A2 upper you'd need to find a G&P or CA lower/upper set to make sure it works. That is, if you're set on Vietnam reenacting.

Or just pick up the G&P XM177E2. Again, because being dead set on reenacting. And quality.
