MarkFon(Dexter) wrote:$200 for this... Besides a fancy field, is there anything that'll make this worth that?

This appears to just be the standard price they put on all their events.

Yeah, I don't know how to justify it though. I guess it's like Nike, you buy for the name more than the experience...

Wait, that's airsoft, understod. lol

I hear there might be a Holy Wars 2 around the same time.

I think I may fly out for this one, Bubba Moore who is the CO for Russian side now. He makes the game, a real kick to be around. You can't be around him for more then 3 minutes without grinning or laughing. LC games tends to be in rusty/crap holes rotting around away some where in the states or it's at some camp/base. I've been going to the east coast version for 2 years now and going to the third. They, like this one at Oregon city are semi only. For some, that may be a turn off. This is the first LC game I am aware or remember, requiring each player to use a helmet. I'll have to buy an adapter for my Flora covered helmet. It's called a film event based on what it took to host the event there. Remember the pages about Ft. Warden?? It may be a common practice to secure locations in the future.

If any would be going as Russian, I would like to link up. Specifically any RR guys.

Calling things what they aren't is why the last event Lion Claws tried to host in our area was a NO-GO. Events are not film events. It's a bbwarz game. And if/when people find that out, they can immediately cancel the event.

I'd like to go. The buildings look awesome. But I don't see much in the event worth $200 to attend. I'd probably pay up to $75 for this game because of this field.

It's hard for me to navagate the websight, what are the age requirements/ fps limits?
This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless.

The answers are: #1 probably not, and #2 pain

Can't wait! And to all the people who are like "is it worth it?" When people die cuz the AO is all super fuckin crazy, you'll wish you woulda gone.
The Russians will have a rest area inside the map, what we are tentatively calling "the chill lounge" fallow the sound of techno and hardy laughter! And maybe some Vodka farts.

Fair Warning, I might be biased.

I was at the site, and we talked with the site owner. While we did talk about filming it, we also freely talked about this being a game that's fun for the participants. We talked with the owner about gameplay and game flow, and how to keep people moving and from getting bottled up.

I believe they are aware that the participants are coming for a game/event, and that LC will be filming it. I would not hold this against them. If you elect not to come because you're not a fan of LC gameplay or event style, that's fine. I do feel a little bad when a huge crowd hears something about how some guy thinks LC obtains their event AOs, and decides that they won't go because someone kicked off a round of groupthink.

The area is very interesting and complex, and this will likely be the only game that is ever hosted there (property is due to be transferred this year). Someday it will be condos. Today, it's the dream we've always had of getting those super-cool Russian Decrepit Factory AOs.

I payed for my Russian side entry, I still think the method of using film is a smart way to obtain a location. Especially with how airsoft has been attacked in a few states where it is extremely popular.

Black-Bear, Chainsaw and myself went out there today. We went onto the bluff that directly overlooks the mill.
It's hard to describe how big this place is.(I know it's 4 x 2 blocks) At first we we're all speechless. That quickly turned into incessant giggling and pointing.
It's so massive, your eyes kinda have a hard time focusing on it at first.

WARNING!!! Anyone who is attending this game.
You will definitely want to wear boots with a full shank sole, their are a ton of holes throughout the AO.(Plus the scrap metal bits that cover the map) It will be highly advised to go slow, and really watch your step. Also, there are several walkways made of wood that are over water.
While some of that sounds scary, and it is, you still wanna play this map. It's gonna test everyones skill and fortitude.
Bing maps is the way to go if you can't get out there and go eyes on.

So, are you tuff enough?
If so I'll see yah there. Come find me in the chill lounge, I'll have a drink waiting for you.

Oh, and bring a flashlight bring several, even if your just playing in the daytime. Your gonna need em.
