Kryptek camo?

Postby Mivy » Mon Feb 18, 2013 10:00 pm

Does anyone run the new Kryptek combat uniform and if so is it good?

I think it would also be better to wait till the Army's new pattern solicitation is over, there may be a price drop in the patterns depending on if they get selected or not.

Kryptek is somewhat rumored to be winning the pattern, but my money is on US4CES winning (ADS / Guy Cramer / Hyperstealth).

Either way, it's going to be hard to get any of the new patterns in uniforms right now. You can get Kryptek right now for about $250-300 a set, and it won't be any cheaper until one of the Wal-Mart brands puts it out like Propper.

That being said, Kryptek is originally a hunter's camouflage, and you can buy variants of it at Cabelas in non-military styled cuts and clothing items. Sometimes hunter uniforms are better suited anyways.

Looks like some of the Highlander (The Kryptek transitional / OCIE pattern color scheme) is sold out. Might be for a while.

Highlander is available on Kryptek's site, the Valhalla set is like $200 for a uni.

I would think the fact that we have all these companies like mayflower making kit in Kryptek patterns to be a sign that it is at least doing very well, and I've seen some jackets and stuff around Virginia Beach. I've see nothing in hyperstealth, and to be honest I'm not a fan of the pattern or the people associated with it.

The camo is supposed to have like a 3D look to it to blend in with depth perception, I don't understand how it looks girly it's camo lol in a flowery field it might be good? and not considering price, I guess my question would be, is it effective? Does the pattern work? It's one of the few newer camo's out like US4CES isn't available to the public yet.

Are these camos for the Army only or for all military branches?

IMO, ADS Woodland looks awesome.

Flowery? Kryptek looks awesome. I dunno what you fools are talking about. Hell, if a camo suit made up of Hello Kitty patterns blended in better than ADS, AOR1, or Kryptec I'd take it. Whatever gives me the best concealment.

Looks like the Army solicitation is anybody's game now.

Either way, Kryptek looks pretty horrible to me as far as blending. The colors are all too light and faded, and there isn't enough contrast.

You can buy it at Cabelas. it's alright, I guess. I'd rather use m81 US Woodland.

There's like 1 shop in Japan (they have an online store) that's selling a seemingly legit set in bdu cut for 250ish. But I bet the Army played COD 13 ninja ops was like "OH WTF THAT"S CRAY" and thus began the very expensive process of researching and designing new camouflage. Also baggy suits like hunting camo and gorkas help to break up the human profile.
I'm the osiris of this.
