KWA M9 Orange Tip Removal

Postby Goliath17 » Wed Jan 30, 2013 7:12 pm

I've been trying to figure out how to remove my KWA M9's Orange tip. All I've been able to find is to paint over it. I want to knowif iI could just remove the whole piece all together to reveal threads or something. Thanks.

Mustard is a natural solvent and will break loose the thread lock holding the piece on.

Is it a KWA M9PTP?

If so, I've previously owned one and the orange tip had to be filed off. The outer barrel is plastic so just so long as you file lightly or sand lightly it should turn out pretty well. I would try and find out a way to remove the paint with a chemical, but that is going to be pretty tough with the barrel being plastic and all.

I have the KWA P226 PTP and the outer barrel is plastic so I ended up just sawing it off to make it flush with the end of the slide and then sanding it so it was smooth. Good luck!

Fine sandpaper will remove the weak paint job. Then if you don't like the way that makes it look (it might end up looking lighter/fuzzy/cross-hatched) you can paint it, but the orange will be gone. Be sure to remove your inner barrel first so you don't fill your hop and barrel with plastic and paint dust.

OP! I hope you check the pro shop on KWA's site before you did any of this. They sell "collector" mock barrels for the pistols that they carry. So no orange paint and no damage to the replica. Last time I looked they ran about 20 bucks.
I'm a major chairsofter, sorry about that.
