Crye Percision combat shirts

Postby JoKeR1147 » Wed Mar 20, 2013 4:04 am

So if im just getting on the multicam band wagon should I purchase the crye gen 3s or ACs? Im aware of some of the small differences, but is the military transitioning the gen 3s? I heard some united did but some of the guys didn't like them. Are the switching back to the ACs or continuing the transition to gen 3s?

Buy the Massif Combat shirt, gonna be much cheaper (seen them for about $65 at AONW)

There aren't really that many differences between the AC and G3 shirts, the biggest differences between the two is how they fit and the lack of hard elbow pad pockets on the G3. I've owned both, and I personally prefer the G3 as it has IMO a better pocket design (each shoulder pocket has two compartments, instead of just one like the AC), and fits a bit looser.

Units that are still getting Cryes, particularly CAG, Rangers, and some AFSOC units, are transitioning (they're almost finished, or they might be finished) to G3s. Crye lost the contract for SFGs to Patagonia and their L9 uniforms, which seem to be really disliked. You're probably thinking of that when you say some guys didn't like them, as some units (at least 3 and 10 SFG) have guys personally ordering Crye uniforms when they can because they really don't like the L9s. It's highly unlikely they'll switch back to ACs, as far as I can tell AC shirts are still being continued because some units/individuals prefer them. I also think that some Euro units that have contracts with Crye are getting ACs.

Be warned though, if you get Cryes you'll be a hardcore elitist hater.

So going forward, crye combat uniforms will only be accurate for Ranger, CAG, and AFSOC impressions? That kinda sucks, I was looking forward to the idea of a uniform that could double as fitting a SFG and CAG impression.

Having worn the MASSIF combat shirt I can say it is a great shirt, however I definitely prefer the usual Ripstop fabric and a looser feel. The MASSIF felt very tight to me. Definitely try it on before buying.

Also, combat shirts with mandarin/zip collars are far superior to the crew neck ones like the Massif.

Don't get Cryes.

You'll have to deal with sand in your vagina if you do.

If i get crye gen 3s in MC, what would be a good plate carrier to get with it for accurate impressions? I was looking at the crye CPC but its only used by ACE/CAG i think, so I'm not sure how versatile it would be for different impressions. I really like the design though, its a bit pricey especially after factoring in the blast belt and suspender system but if you are running plates it does a great job of distributing weight and allowing you to keep a low profile. From what I've seen, the integrated pouches do wonders for allowing you to carry a good deal of equipment and still fit through tight doorways and spaces without getting caught.

SEALs and KSK use the CPC. I THINK Aussie SOTG/SAS use it as well. I haven't looked for pictures of them in a while.

6094 in MC or khaki or an EPC in khaki will work for loads of impressions without nuking the bank.

Very true...

Also, Massif shirts are fine and look the part when wearing a vest. Only a hardcore gearwhore will notice/care and only a hardcore gearwhore tool will call you out about it if you're running an impression at a game.

-Downside, no such thing as an AOR Massif shirt that I know of.

Will I be verbally assaulted for suggesting Emerson brand BDU's?

Welshy McSheeplove wrote:As far as plate carriers go, if you're going for a CAG/ACE rig, CPCs and JPCs are pretty much your only options. They're also being used SEALs, CCTs, PJs, MARSOC, regular Army SF, some Rangers, Aussie SASR, some Brits, some Canadians, KSK, and some other random Euro units. Oh, and some Russians. CPCs and JPCs are now as versatile as EPCs/MBAVs, perhaps even more so.

I demand pics of all the above.

Dude you linked as German is CAG.

You can go to the Seul consulting facebook page and see tons of KSK guys in Crye kit.... but then again you'll aslo see them in HPCs, SOHPCs, 6094s, Lindnerhof Taktik PCs, Kandahar PCs, ect, ect, ect. UKSF has been pictured in almost all the same with the exception of the LT PC, but they have also used Condor PCs.

AWG guys have been pictured recently in CAGEs (not CPCs)

Also not 100% on this but the guy you linked as Assuie is SAS-R, but more specifically NZ SAS-R

Welshy McSheeplove wrote:Everything I've come across points at him being Aussie SAS-R. And I've lost the picture of the KSK guy, then. I've got way too much shit on my computer and the only stuff that has even a semblance of organization are my SFG pictures. I'm not huge on foreigners except for Commonwealth SOF, anyway.

Also, there are some ODA guys running JPCs, CPCs, and CAGEs. Asked for pictures to confirm, not expecting any though cause OPSEC stuffs.

Watch, they'll send you a picture made in Microsoft paint with everything blacked out except for the plate carrier.
