Hey folks!
I've just gotten into the airsoft scene and am really looking forwards to getting into the sport. I picked up a King Arms Colt M4(gery) and now need some gear. I want to have a GI look, but I don't want to waste lots of money doing so. What are some general run of the mill camo pieces and plate carriers that you might perhaps recommend? I'm not really looking for something Milspec, but would like to look or at least, feel the part. I've researched about lots of the parts but some don't look right or are just too damn expensive. The main things I'm looking for are...
-Some good boots
-Camo Top and Bottom (Preferably ACU or Multicam)
-Plate Carrier or Chest rig that matches Camo
and lastly,
-Some accessories to outfit my AR. (Lights, Optics, Mags and whatnot.)

If you play at fields that use primarily hi cap mags, i suggest the Lonex Flash mags. 360round capacity and you just pull a string 5 times and it winds the entire mag.

And go with multicam, if its a decision between that and UCP. Unless you play in snow or fog alot

In all seriousness, if you want to look authentic, it gets spendy fast. The cheap way is buy all the China stuff(Emerson, TMC, Condor, other things chinese, Rothco, Matrix, etc.) made by my unknown cousins and other possible relatives, but that can go horrible with the quality stitching and stuff you find on the lower end things every now and then.

The higher end replicas and the real gear (HSGI, Eagle, CRYE, Diamondback Tactical, Flyye, PANTAC, etc.) is something you would like, with the higher quality blah blah blah and American made bullshit.

But if you don't want to be MARSOC DEVGRU CRYE ELITIST cryeing TACTICAL TYRS with the amount of money you're spending, then just buy what you think you need and configure your kit to work for you.

tl;dr, quick kitlist for basics:

MOLLE rig/Plate carrier.
Magazine pouches.
H2O source for hydrated goodness.
Radio pouch for Motorola walkie talkie or something, with a headset or something. Buy it in Khaki or some silly tan color, that seems to go with everything.

Buy tings and configure it the way you want until you want to become some PJMARSOCCRYEPRECISIONCOMPBATOPER8R from SoCal who's of Asian desent, or something. Those times can wait.

Onto your AR: Go to local stores, and try things on your rifle to see what suits you. I've gone through two optics of different kinds, and am unsure if I'm going to stay with the current one I have. You don't need shit on your rifle you don't need, like seven different flashlights with five IR filters and two IR lasers, topped with some fancy grenade launcher you never use that has some weird grip and another red/green laser. Unless you really want to.

But it's the same ordeal, kind of. Buy things that work for you. I had a magnified optic, I ended up deciding that it got annoying and picked up another red dot. And probably am going to find some stupid PEQ box to top off my SBR build after I complete it.

Since we're not 1337ELITEAOR2SEALTEAMFIFTEEN rading Osama Bin Laden's kitchen, we have a huge un-purchased closet of gear to sort through and fit our needs. And of course, we'll be buying stuff and selling it off because we see fit that it isn't something working for us.

FYI no hobby is going to be cheap, build your gear slowly and you'll get a better look than going cheap and buying china man stuff

Welcome, for gear you might get some stuff from here on AP there are alot of good guys here that have what you need but another option is to go the places like thunderkissnw in store, when I picked up some of my gear I went to weapon blender and got a task force one mopc that's really nice you should look at some of the stuff there.

PS. I found acu to stick out really bad look at marpat instead it blends in better.

It is really up to you what you like but it can get it can get pretty hot and heavy with a fully loaded vest. I use the bare minimum which allows me to move quickly and quietly. I recommend a dual mag clamp from airsoftmagastore.com with G&G mags because they hold 450rds each. I use that and most of the time I am back at spawn before I need to reload. Optics are cool but they take longer to look through then iron sights. I would recommend the UTG gen 2 laser because it is adjustable for different ranges depending on the game type. A laser can improve accuracy but it also can give you away If it is seen. Mesh goggles don't fog and fully seal around your eyes.
Anyways all I use is m4 with a 2 G&G mags in a dual mag clamp and a pistol. At least for me that is enough. I use woodland marpat. An admin 5 feet away from me could not see me. I also recommend recommend a mask that matches your camo; helmets don't blend in as well. Hunting boots work well but I would also recommend thick socks to prevent blisters. Gloves are important because there is a lot of small things like briar bushes that can hurt your hand. Also getting shot in the knuckles really hurts. The more you have on you the bigger the target you are and the slower you are.

Might I suggest getting a solid color gear. You may want Multicam gear to match your multicam uniform, but what happens if you want to change your camoflague for a few events? Or say you join a team that runs woodland... Having a solid color camoflague will translate better across other camo patterns. Look into OD, Tan, or Coyote gear, with thse you can wear woodland from any country, in both standard or digital, you can also wear the newer camouflage colors out there, because most camoflague is based on OD and Tan coloring's. Down the road you won't have to update your gear just because you might want to switch camo patterns.
Also when you're buying gear, buy something like MOLLE, PALS, or ALICE gear. Buy gear that you can add to as you go. Buying a static vest that doesn't allow you to change out pouches, pockets, or customize your load-out, is just going to end in you not liking it and not using it. Where as with molle if you don't like where that pouch is, you can just move it, or remove, and use something else, that matter.
