It is privately owned, the event is not insured, and I can send you a copy of the pdf of the waiver (its pretty standard fare) next time I'm on my main computer.

I know that a lot of people want us to get event insurance, but with the quotes I've gotten, I would have to start charging $15 plus per head *AND* have 40+ person attendance to make it not just completely empty my wallet every time I host a game.

The waiver has your basic "not our fault (excepting gross negligence of course)" stuff plus a release for your photographic and videographic likeness.

Do the local police know about the game?

You should google SIlverton. It's kind of like Barter Town, only more Russians.

The locals know and have known we do airsoft at this field for years. The field is privately owned land out in the middle of nowhere, and there have never been any problems shooting airsoft or real steel there.

We've been hosting games at this field for over 5 years (and at other Silverton fields more than 7 years ago). In those 5 years the police have never showed up to a game at this field. Even if they did we have procedures for police showing up on the field and have every legal right to be doing what we are doing. The field is outside of city limits so we are not bound by any city ordinance. We will have a safety briefing before the game so that everyone can playing safely without worry.

Well, it's good that the locals know about it, and I'm glad to hear that there haven't been any troubles in the past.

I still think it might be a good idea to give the local PD a heads-up though, if they don't already know about the field. All it takes is one unfamiliar paranoid passerby to call the police about a bunch of guys carrying assault rifles. Better safe than sorry.

The field is far from the road in dense forest on private property, it wont be a problem.

To which the police will say, "Meh, it's deer season." Or maybe, "Meh, it's private land outside city limits. They can shoot all they want."

No worries. This is not the East Coast. We like guns here. Well, once you get out of Eugene and Portland city limits.

Trying to make this one happen.
It's been too long.

Too long.
Mmmmmmm

Haha and yes, almost every time I've been there, neighbors (if they happen to appear) drive by on the gravel driveway, smile and wave at us. "Look at those cute big boys playing army! Coo coo"

Hi guys. I'm new to Oregon and airsoft, and I figured it'd be fun to come by to this match and see what it's like. I heard about it from another guy who's attending and suggested it. I'm not sure if I'll have a gun by Sunday (hard to figure out what I want/what to spend), but it will be fun regardless.

I hate to phrase this like this, but if you're going to be paranoid about law enforcement, may I suggest that a game where you run around in the woods with a toy assault rifle is maybe not for you?

Edit, also the local "PD" wouldn't respond to a call at this site, it would be the sheriff's office.

If you're that guy from the Something Awful boards I can hook you up with a loaner gun. :)
