It's alright, it doesn't amplify the report significantly and it also changes the sound a little. If you're doing it purely for the sound increase, then it's not really worth it. Though if you're also doing it for cosmetic reasons, then I'd say it's worth it.

In terms of amplification, it makes more of a "popping" sound while it is attached to a rifle. The main reason to get it as mentioned is for cosmetics.

Whether or not it is worth it is entirely up to you.

Just spring for the full accessory kit.

You'll be happy to have that attachment for shooting down police helicopters when the time is right.

IRL, those compensators were designed for short-barreled rifles to help blow the huge fireball of gasses forward (and IIRC to help in cycling). If you want something to make your gun sound louder there's also this Madbull PET bottle adapter that can help change the harmonics of your gun.

I thought i had read somewhere that the amps were for indoor use to direct the sound away from the team so they don't go deaf firing indoors.

But i have an amp, as well as my teammate swede. We have them on our 249's and he has one on an RPK. They do make the sound different. I think it helps carry the noise further down range also. On the RPK it gives a distinct high crack noise. I like them personally.
