The MilSimWest game coming up in September will have some scripted elements to it, with actor/opfor type elements. Either way, with a kickass AO like that, and spending two days in the field, getting immersed is pretty easy.

I'm sad I missed the last one, heard it was excellent! Price seems a bit steep, what is the AO like? I was only able to make out some buildings and clearings from the Wendyland pics. Otherwise, heavily interested in said event with the success of their first.

Hopefully I'm not grouped with the "child soldiers"(cannon foddder).

The AO is hilly, forested, with a meadow/lighter forest in the middle. There's small buildings in a few areas. The two FOBs (camping areas) are separated, so you camp with your company instead of everyone all in one place. There are roads and trails throughout the area. The terrain makes natural boundaries and easy navigation.

Edit, we can split this to another topic rather than plugging this game in Sheeplover's thread...

What kind of weapon, magazine, and gear restriction/requirements would there be? How much per game? Would they be taking place in Washington or Oregon? I'm interested in just about any scenario, it's the technicalities I'm interested and worried about. $50+ is not at all possible on my college-level budget.

Are these events 24+hrs? If so, is game on the whole time, or are there official meal and snooze times?

Mil-Sim is usually more expensive. They are almost always mid-cap only events. They usually have specific gear requirements, and usually a bit more money because they have to plan more and have actors.

For mil-sim, usually it's the US vs. a movie-bad guy. Oregon tends to fight the Arabs/Islam (Shalwar Kamis, solid colors, Civilians) and Washington likes to beat up the Russians.

If you want one loadout that works for most mil-sim events, I'd say get Multicam, a plate carrier and a MICH2000 helmet. Get an M4 or M16.

But yes, not all events are $50. A lot will be in mil-sim.

The games hosted by AP/APST, and BSP were usually $25 to $35.

edit: The CQB competitions were usually higher in price. It was worth it for the higher level of immersion and Milsim gameplay.

As for making impressions, MilSim West (and I think other hosts who hold games like this) takes in to account that fact that some people can't afford a lot of stuff.
...
It's super easy to make irregular forces/OPFOR impressions.
...We've got 9th Group that has good SF impressions, and thankfully we've got a set OPFOR in the Rushing Russians, who have damn fine Russian kits.

The price is a few bucks more than a weekend at a paintball field, but its a different experience altogether. The first time you doze off during an ambush and then wake up to a blank fire AK and Kar-98 going off... you'll understand the difference.

Regarding the impressions. For this event the uniform guidelines are posted on the FB event page.
Here they are for the lazy:

Uniform guidelines: ACU(UCP) and US M81 Woodland will be the default camo patterns used. All other patterns will be in accordance with established unit guidelines. Watch the MilsimWest page for detailed uniform, kit and weapons guidelines.
