Yeah it'd be a cool idea. The drinking club I'm a member of does this. The "Stein Club" and we have medals and what not for how many beers you've drank in a month ext. You could do a ladder system and whoever ends up being the highest ranking in a "season" can have a prize. Maybe have it be the top 5 ranking people get something or have a raffle so as your progress you get more and more chances at winning a prize at the end of the season.
My sword runs at 450 FPS, try to out run that! 35+ Sword/Knife Kills and counting.

Question:

Are there any Audio experts here? I'm not too seasoned on the best outdoor speakers or PA system would be. I am trying to figure out the type of speakers I would need to "equip' the field audio logically? Pretty much I want the ability to play "propaganda" over the speakers or whatever we may choose to fit the event and theme.

Cheap and easy is a cb with a PA speaker. Nice and loud, but not too much quality.

While yes railroad ties have that creosote (sp?), I call it the sticky crap, that oozes bad when its hot, if you use them as a "base" layer of like a trench or a wall, they can be patially of fully covered with other substances to protect peoples gear. I have seen them used at the legs and standing platforms for a assualt rail on a castle wall. Heck, maybe throw some cheap burlap over them so they can be "painted" to give you a "broken brick" wall look? Again, just suggestions and ideas. Use em you like, ignore them if not dont matter either way to me.

That seems like decent prices to me.

Thank you for the feedback. Was quick to jump at asking about prices at the wrong time.

Quick question if you gentlemen don't mind; if you're on a team, do you wear team designed patches?

Besides the few teams on the ACA and couple misc google pictures; do you are the "majority" wear patches?

We plan on getting patches in the near future.

JamesW: Thanks for the info.

Another question:

How often do you or the fields you play on use Simulated Explosives? I.E. - Arty Sims, Training Flashbangs, etc.

Thanks,
Chad

The last couple events that I went to at Camp R&R had simulated explosives used to eliminate the entire village area of the field. But that's coming from someone who have only gone to a couple games there. :D

Welshy McSheeplove:

As far as current events, we are in the process of listing and disecting who our competitors are. Mainly one being Tacoma Tactical and the others in the Portland, OR area. Our current speculation of where the field may be is 1 Hour 20 Mins from Portland and 1 hour from Tacoma. One of the basis's I am using is that people will travel this far to participate in this sport and recreation experience. Being out of the main populace will also allow us to do much more life like and exciting things without disturbing the neighboring citizens.

I completely agree with creating this place to be a viable training area as well as recreation for the populace. The MOUT field and MOUT aspects of other fields will be extremely well done. Advertising to one audience or type of airsofter won't keep us in business. We have to consider MilSim, for a lack of a better term "Call-of Duty" players, basic thrill seekers, women etc etc. We will do it successfully, no mater what your play style is you'll be able to play it there among others with similiar style interests.

This is not paintball, I do not want to create fields with bunker to bunker cover( if I am making sense). We want to recreate cities, battered forests, warzones that have a fantasy and historical construct to them.

Welshy McSheeplove wrote:Honestly, occasional strict/structured MilSim events would be more than enough for the MilSim community around here, it doesn't need to be a weekly thing. Everyone likes the chaotic airsoft CQC enough that people would keep going, even if it wasn't particularly "MilSim".

These are my thoughts exactly.

I would love to participate in a very Milsim oriented event every once in a while, and also be able to have a more casual "open play" style during most weekends. One thing I would highly recommend you address (if you haven't addressed it already) is the age requirement for your field. I think the AP community and PacNW teams need a place where they can all have fun without children. If you made the age limit 16+ or 18+ it would give you a huge advantage in attracting repeat customers who are serious about being repeat customers. Younger kids love to not take hits, blind fire, get themselves hurt, and break rental guns!

The younger group supplies all the money. If he wants to actually stay in business, unfortunately he'll need to allow younger players. The Pacific Northwest teams and the AP community won't be regulars because we all know about other free places to play and we don't enjoy playing at the same field every weekend, but the teenagers within 45 minutes of this field will be there every weekend. Their parents will be so excited to drop them off and get rid of them. There's a fair amount of babysitting involved in running any Airsoft business, that's just the way it is.

The reality of Airsoft: the 10-18 demographic is much larger than the 19-50 demographic. Airsoft is a kid-centric business. If you go all out mil-sim/tactical training facility for adults, that's a whole other huge competitive market. Those types of facilities last 6 months, but the "Airsoft arenas" and fields that are kid-friendly are still in business. Go figure.

I understand what you're saying. It's kind of a depressing thought but it is correct. Maybe there can be a workaround to it though, because this sounds like it's going to be a pretty good field. The little kids love to multiply in numbers after one of them goes to an arena. If it's bad for me at 17 to try and play with a mob of children, imagine how miserable it would be for the guys your age! It's just my dream to have an open-play field near my location with a 16+ or 18+ age requirement, that way the younger people can still get in on the action but it isn't to an extreme.

Bwuahahaha, You just got called and old fart Matt.

Oh wait....

doesn't matter what the age is, you teach them to play correct, they'll be fine. Usually the younger they are, the louder they are on the field. We have my 9 yr old and Swede's 10 yr old play at his field. They do fine, call more hits than i've seen others do. But you can hear them from a mile away.
