"Fisheying" on replica Trijicon ACOG

Postby Icepick » Wed Jul 04, 2012 5:24 pm

While I aim through my ACOG replica (it actually magnifies), there is a fisheye effect. I don't know how or why it is doing this, but I've completely disassembled the scope, and cleaned both lenses very well. I have also tried flipping the rear lens to no avail.

Could it be that this is occuring because it is just a replica? Or is there a logical explanation to this beyond the quality of the replica?

Is this a new scope or is this just starting to happen to a scope you have owned for a while?

I bought it used.

Through quite an amount of tinkering and adjusting things I was able to figure it out though, thank you for the reply though!

either you're looking down the wrong end of the scope or you have a cheap scope, magnification without fish eye effect around the edges will cost more money

The previous owner had all of the lenses, washers, and rings in the rear unit all mixed around. I don't know why they did that, but they completely screwed up the order of them therefore causing the fisheye effect. If anybody has this issue and posts here, I'll post a picture of the proper order of mine. The replica magnifies without any fisheye effect around the edges, so it must be of pretty good quality then.
