Car Break In

Postby 110 » Mon Jul 02, 2012 7:14 pm

Hey AP,

On Thursday June 26th around 1am-5am, someone smashed my passenger side window and ran off with some stuff when I was visiting the parents in Beaverton near Walker Road.

The neighborhood hasn't seen criminal activity until summer started when there was a house break in and two cars, including mine were smash and grabbed.

The car alarm did not go off because they used either a spark plug or a piece or porcelin to spider the window and poke the glass out.

Here what was stolen:

1. TYR Tactical Basic Plate Carrier
- Black
-X-Large
-Like new condition

2. Eagle Industries M60 7.62 Ammo Pouch
- Khaki/Tan
-Like new condition
-Has no vagina flap/internal divider

3. Eagle Industries M9 Pistol Magazine Pouch
-Khaki/Tan
-Beat up/dusty

4. ACU Army Issued IFAK
-Has medical supplies
-All the medical supplies are like new but the CAT TQ is beat up and dusty from A-stan.

5. Oakley Carbon Fiber Knuckle Gloves
-Tags were ripped out I believe
-All finger tips/thumbs were cut off
-Size Small
-Black

6. V. Moda In Ear Head Phone
-Black w/ Silver trim
-Stopped using them once I got an ear infection...

7. Oakley Glasses Case Hard case and Soft case.
-Both black

8. Canvas Messenger Bag
-Tanish
-Uses Magnetic Snaps
-Had pens and morale patches inside

9. Morale Patches:
- Big 3x5 American Flag Patch in full color, tan velcro
- "The Louder you Scream the faster we come" patch, green, black velcro
- Tad Gear dragon patch, grey, black velcro
- Medal of HOnor apache gun fighter patch, red eyes, black, white stitching.
- IR American Flag Patch, reversed American Flag, Tan and black.

There will be a reward for information leading to the return of my shit.
If you've seen someone you know magically have a bunch of the stuff I listed appear on them, please let me know.

I hope you did not have real SAPIs in the plate carrier. If you did I hope that was explained in detail to law enforcement.

I am truely sorry for your loss.

That being said, WHY THE HELL DO PEOPLE STILL LEAVE SHIT VISABLE IN THEIR CARS!!

It happens a couple times a year that someone thought it would be ok for a few min.

I got into Airsoft here on AP after buying a stolen airsoft gun at the Pawn Shop I worked at. I bought it for me and then saw it in a photo here on AP. I got the guys name address and finger prints. the police did nothing. I took that one in the a$$ for $250.

Usually don't, but being at a place that is demographically "safe" compared to say Gresham/PDX, I was too comfortable with leaving stuff unsecured. Lesson learned.

No armor was in it.

Speaking as a retired cop, When the weather gets warmer and school is out, car prowls and property crimes ( residential burglaries) go way up. People tend to leave things more accessible / unsecured when it gets hot. These are pretty low priority crimes for most agencies, this is based on the sheer volume of these type of incidents and the number of persons crimes that these type of incidents compete with. When a car clout competes with a drive by shooting....well you get the point. Yes this sucks but its the cold hard fact's. Most of the crimes of this nature that are solved are based on the diligence of the victim in locating their own property. The suggestions given are good, also check the pawn shops ( call to save legwork) Most of the pawn shops are douche bag haven, and I disliked dealing with them That said the shops don't want to take the money loss for accepting stolen property as stated by the above individual. On a warm night, a good car clouter will hit 10-30 vehicles, mostly by just trying the doors. The MO of window breakage you describe is the sign of someone who has been at it awhile ( the spark plug), that used to be the domain of Asian gangs who were the car clout pros, but that was 20 years ago. I'm sure this type of break in is more main stream criminal now. If this was not just some local punks, the stuff is already out of state. There is a thriving trade of hot stuff going to Idaho and in reverse. The times that I got lucky in tracking stuff, it was traded for dope in less than 2 hours, typically for ten cents on the dollar. If this was local punks you may yet see your stuff.
Sounds like you have this figured out as far as leaving leaving stuff in plain sight, if you have full coverage on your car or some home owners insurance policies will cover the loss. At places where this happens alot ( Columbia gorge for example) people who frequent the trail heads will just leave the vehicles unlocked because more $ damage is done by breaking in than the value of what is stolen. I'm sorry you got this expensive lesson. Best of luck in recovering your stuff.
