Buyer Beware: "ColeBart/ChiefE7/Cole B."

Postby Switchback » Sat Jun 02, 2012 8:40 pm

I would like to warn you all of a scammer of sorts that has recently resurfaced.
Previously known as ColeBart, by dealings with him were limited, but involved high-value items. We traded replicas, and he called me a short time later saying he needed it back, because the M249 he had traded me was not his in the beginning. I have a witness to our first trade, where the circumstances were clear; NO RETURNS. However, thinking I was being friendly, I allowed him to trade back. He got his M249 back, and I did not get my SCAR GBBR back. He had sold it, he said, for parts that he needed for the SAW. IT'S A TRAP! He compensated me with a plastic Echo1 M16 that had been tampered with; the AR latch was missing, and it was shimmed so poorly there was no excuse. I also received a CQB M4 that had more scars on the battered body (that was missing a few external parts) that I was not surprised when it died no more than 200 rounds later.
When he dropped out of contact, I just let it slide. I didn't think he'd be back. But when ColeBart returned as "Chief E7," advertising multiple high-end replicas, from a CA UMP to... you guessed it--The M249, I made contact. He started out asking to "put our past behind us" but was shut down when I revealed to him he only wanted that because he owed me stuff.

Not trying to make your decisions carefully, but I suggest you use extreme caution when dealing with this user, or avoid the situation altogether. I know other people have had issues with him as well. Just wanted to give you all a fair warning.

I've had a few run-ins with ChiefE7 aswell.

I traded a GR-16 carbine for a few Thunder B's and a scope for my AR-10 (Or my now shot to shit M28). I gave him a OE tech PC for it aswell. I wanted my GR-16 back, after my M28 died. He never told me "No returns" or anything like that. I then heard that he had put in a new piston, and done a ton of mods to it, and put upwards of 100 dollars in upgrades to it.

I let it slide. The Thunder B's are pretty cool.

But I do not recommend working with ChiefE7, as he seems to do a lot of behind the back things.

In hindsight, I may have been a bit nieve.. It was my first trade, and I probably didn't understand it.

I wish I still had the PMs he sent me before The 'Couve. I seem to recall getting a dodgy impression of the guy just from reading them. You can tell a lot about someone from the way they write.

yep i remember him, he tried to swap a pistol from me for 2 LPAEG.
if i recall he wanted to trade a M82 and a G36. he was mysterious about the brand and said weird things to make both guns sound high end (i wish i still had the PM's). so i asked for an actual picture but he just pulled some off the web which turned out to be the DE M82 and DE G36

He has no real affiliation with our team, we never met him or skirmed with him. He sent a request to join the team a while back, but that was all.

I've had 2 offers of trade from ChiefE7. Didn't take me long to realize i didn't want to do business with him. He is pushy, the deals he offered were too good to be true, some were just pure crap. And when i told him no he kept on going. I have pm's and texts saved still.

Really this all comes down to if you have a bad feeling, or it's too good to be true, then don't do it. Or if you do, buyer beware. And i've never had a need to verbalize a no return policy. You buy something used, you bought it as is. No take backs, or do over's.

Also, i was offered the 249 at one point, but was told i would have to add in cash to make the value over $300 or $400. Which it was stock and i could buy a new one for less.

I've been talking some sense into cole who you know as chief and he would like to try and make things better and right these wrongs. I'm going to start a thread where if you have ever been ripped off or scammed by him you may post a detailed complaint and then we as a community will determine what to do from there. When he first contacted me about this i was confused but now reading these posts it is apparent that he is at fault and needs to try and right these wrongs. Please no hate messages in this new thread as it will only hamper us in our endeavor to fix things. Obviously people like this should be banned from selling ever again but that does not mean we have to completely crucify him if he is willing to beg for forgiveness.

Personally I don't buy, or trade used stuff that often for reasons just like this. When I do trade I try to trade with people I know, or someone with a good rep here on AP.
