How do GBBR perform in Oregon?

Postby SA12 » Wed May 30, 2012 11:02 am

I'm moving to Oregon in two weeks and I was wondering how GBBR (WOC, LM4, etc.) perform in Oregons climate.

I'm not too worried about gas efficiency, just as long as they can go through all of my magazines. Also most of my firing would be done on semi and not full auto.

I think it should be fine. If i'm correct gas performs well here, just not in the winter:D

Performs well, there is a noticeable difference in the winter, less efficiency, but as long as you keep your gun in semi in the winter, I have yet to have a problem

Don't assume. From what I have seen gas is pretty inefficient from Winter to Fall and sometimes works well in the Summer and Spring. If you aren't planning on using the gun on cold days you could probably pull it off.

If realism is what you are going to and you have a bigger budget you might want to consider the newer Tokyo Mauri blowback AEGs: http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/tokyo-marui- ... black.html

I personally got to shoot one and they have very realistic blowback and don't suffer from the drawbacks that gas does in the winter. Plus with an adapter they can feed regular AEG mags.

I actually sold my TM SOPMOD a couple of months back to go with GBBRs. Yeah they perform very well, I had every single upgrade that they made for that gun, but it still didn't stand up to the feeling of a GBB. Right now all I have is a KWA MP7 and a KWA m226 after selling my TM SOPMOD. I was considering grabbing another TM Recoil or KWA Recoil when they come out, though GBBRs are what I'm looking for.

KWA MP7/pistols are different from WOCs. WOCs have TONS of issues with the system. Unless you're okay with sluggish recoil or none at all, or want to run CO2 and spend ~$1k on steel parts, in my experience, it's not worth the cost/time getting it to skirmish-able level. The G&P WOC I have currently, with full steel internals, is unable to cycle over 6 rounds with propane. CO2 is the way to go if you must use WA-system GBBRs.

KWA might be an exception.

I see, supposedly the LM4s are better in the cold in comparison to the WA systems and WE Systems, perhaps I'll give them a try.

What gun do you have?

Currently i do not own a GBB. I run with a JG G36c and i think a King Arms Colt M4 CQB. I've just read some forums on this matter and assumed it was the same discussion :)

I used my WE 36C in February with no issues. A mag dump took a bit longer, but it still fired all 31 BBs.

Granted it's a totally different system than the WA gibbers, just offering my results.

If you plan on getting a GBBR get the lm4. They are by far the best gbbrs on the market. I plan on getting one if I still have the money after I get my bow this summer.

I've used a WE SCAR in February and had little to no problems. Just keep handwarmers in your magazine pouches, and cool your magazines down before you fill them. Then warm them up, and fire in short bursts. A mag dump will leave you venting gas like nobody's business. They work great here.

I dont have experience with GBBRs in oregon, But with GBB pistols you can notice some pretty big changes throughout the winter and fall and sometimes even spring. But during the summer they work very well. Where are you moving from?

Maui, Hawaii and before you ask "why would you leave Hawaii?" it's not all that great to live here haha, especially on Maui.
