handicapped players?

Postby Trench » Mon May 21, 2012 6:44 am

I have an associate that would love to play airsoft, however he has bad knees and has a difficult time getting down to the ground in a quick timely manner. If he was to come out and play would he be razzed for his short comings ? Or should I just let sleeping dogs lie and not invite him ?

There are a couple players out there that have bad knees and can hold their own. Sometimes they have to call it quits a little early, but no one gives them shit for it. If he is willing bring him out.

We have someone on our team that lost his leg in a motorcycle accident (I will admit we call him less than flattering names but hey if you can't pick on a teammate, who else can you pick on), but he is out there playing with us, carrying all his gear and what not.

People will get the crap verbally kicked out of them on this website for pretty much anything as long as they can control it, fix it, improve it, but don't. Your friend can't help his bad knees. We'll show him a good time. :)

He has a false leg. He was only amputated above the knee so he has a prosthetic that he wears to allow him to walk.

Above the knee is a lot harder to airsoft with than below the knee.

I have a guy that I'm trying to get out that is below the knee.

Give him a support weapon. Volume of fire works almost as well as finding cover in airsoft.

Take him to play indoor airsoft first. You don't have to spend a lot of time taking a knee indoors.

Having had knee surgery, I'm a fan of indoor airsoft. Less walking to get to the shooty bits. Less time kneeling behind crap. Less time traversing broken ground. Less time climbing hills under load.

If he has a true disability, the community will treat him fine. We only rag on people who are idiots for fun, or like another poster said, have the ability to fix the problem, but dont.
