One basic modern US loadout for new players.

Discussion of load-bearing equipment, tactical gear, holsters, BDUs, and other gear related to Airsoft.

One basic modern US loadout for new players.

Postby SleepyDave » Tue May 15, 2012 8:00 pm

In the style of the ONE LOADOUT posts, I'd love to see a list generated by AP of what equipment to purchase to do a MODERN US loadout (not just woodies and ALICE). Plate carrier, uniform, rifle, sidearm, all the bits. Ideas?

LBE
Khaki EPC (FLYYE is suggested)

Uniform
ACU-cut Multicam uniform
ACH w/ Multicam cover

Boots
Nike SFBs
Danner

Rifle
M4A1 with Aimpoint

Sidearm
Beretta M9

Eyepro
Oakley M-frames

What would you add to the list?

Gloves
Oakley or the likes

Boots
Nike SFB's; Danners; USCav; etc.

That's all I can think of for the moment.

What theater? What branch? etc...

It's kind of hard to just say, "US Loadout" when each branch use different stuff, units within the branch use different stuff.

This.

And we already have a bunch of "One kit for...." threads, IIRC.

Both true enough. I guess the hope was not to create a branch/unit specific loadout, but I understand that would actually be pretty hard to do. Call it a wash, I guess.

I mean, US Army Infantry or US Marine Infantry...

The other threads focus mainly on different SOF type units.

See, I think I didn't think that particular part through to its logical conclusion. I would say that, for the sake of this thread, Army Infantry would probably be the best direction to go, which reduces back down to M9, and shucks the CIRAS.

Yeah, there is no universal (soldier, sailor, airman, or Marine) loadout.

And Army infantry doesn't use the CIRAS.

Both of these things I'm aware of. Call it a work in progress. I was hoping to generate a generic-enough modern loadout that new players could invest in some equipment without leaning towards a specific impression (Ranger, SF, SEAL, AFSOC), and without telling folks to just buy some woodies and ALICE gear. Lets face it, while it is very basic and generic, its also hugely out of date.

EDIT; yeah, this isn't going as well as I planned, because its goes the complete opposite direction from other loadout threads. Lock/delete requested.

A basic Afghanistan Loadout wich could cover Navy, Army, or Airman... Multicam uniform, a khaki EPC (FLYYE and Pantac make very good replicas. FLYEE has a better shape) MICH 2000/ACH with a multican cover. NVG Mount veries but a PVS 7/14 NVG Mount would suffice. M4 carbine w/ RIS rails

Brilliant! Exactly the sort of information I was hoping for.

Edit: For helpfulness, would that be this little number? https://shop.ehobbyasia.com/flyye-molle ... h-set.html

You asked this on AP with all the gear whores and gear Nazi's on here? Hahaha... Get a plate carrier, some M4 pouches, muti-cam works for cammo, SFB's are good for airsoft, but only SF peeps can use them in the field in the real world. Get a helmet, some gloves (Oakley's), maybe a knee pad or two, a couple pistol mag pouches, hydration pack, non-cotton socks, ANSI rated glasses, a radio, a primary weapon sling, and a holster for your pistol if you have one.

There's a lot of other doodads, but this would get someone going in airsoft. Like was mentioned, search for threads for specific loadouts if you're looking to do an impression of say a SEAL or Ranger or uber-secret squirrel unit.
I do hope that after all this discreditable shuffling we may be taken into action. It has a wonderful way of reconciling a man with himself: and with everybody else, sometimes. - 1st Lt. James Dillon

I'd like to add that "Aimpoint" is a bit generic for anyone who wants a generic loadout. The CompM2 is the issued red dot to the Army, I believe. It's designation is the M68, but you'll more likely find it on airsoft sites as the CompM2.

This is the universal soldier for the US Military, assuming you want what works best for the most units:

1) It would be Army, since they are larger. The Marines would have a very similar one, except with MARPAT and Coyote Gear.

2) If using a SAW, *always* use the 100 round "nut sacks". The 200 rounders suck, though sometimes used by n00bs. Nobody excepts POGs use the plastic drums the link comes in. They have a tendency to fall off.

UNIFORM: OCP (Multicam) or UCP (ACUs). Combat shirt optional, though if not Combat Shirt, then tan T shirt.
HEADGEAR: ACH (MICH2000) with helmet cover (OCP/UCP) with Norotos 1-hole mount, helmet band, optional tan surefire flashlight mount
EYEPRO: Oakley _____, Wiley-X ______ or ESS _____. Personal preference, though I personally prefer the ESS Crossbows.
GLOVES: black or tan gloves of your choice. Use what works for you. Mechanix or Oakley seem to stand out.
BELT: Any tan belt. Cobra belts are popping up more and more, though any belt will do. Issued ones are cheap.
KNEEPADS: Optional. Often times worn at ankle. Arc'teryx knee caps are popping up a bit more lately, often in black or tan, as are a lot of hatch and issued ones.
BOOTS: User preference, or tan jungle boots. Must be 8" and bloused.
GEAR: IOTV in OCP/UCP, though some units wear OTVs still, and combat units are wearing the "KDH Tac-1 Plate Carrier" in Afghanistan, though everyone hates it, so I don't see a long shelf life on it.
    Source: http://www.kdhdefensesystems.com/produc ... er-system/
Pouch placement is up to the user and unit SOPs, though generally you have closed top mag pouches and large GP pouches to store random stuff. Often times the IFAK is in a SAW pouch on the left side.
BACK: Often people wear assault packs. Pick a 3 day assault pack or the issued assault pack. In OCP/UCP/Coyote/Khaki. Fill with snivel gear, MREs, spare batteries, bullets and surgilube.
WEAPON: M4 with full length barrel, rails, PEQ-15, Aimpoint (or sometimes ACOG), 2 point sling or wolf hook.
