Longview Fibre Land

Postby 'Skyhawk' » Thu May 03, 2012 10:28 pm

All the Longview Fibre land is now owned by Logview Timber Co in Canada. They require an event plan and references + 2 million worth of event insurance to use the land if approved by the corprate office in Canada. I hear chances for approval are slim for something like airsoft due to liability issues.

If you currently hold a use permit from LF I would urge you to contact LT to make sure it is still valid.

They state that they will send the police and press trespassing charges if they catch anyone up there airsofting or paintballing w/o a permit.

That sort of defeats the purpose of playing there. One of the best things about the field, it was free. If an insurance policy has to be purchased, somebody will need to pay just to host a skirm. Meh.

Yes + your "proposal" must also climb the chain of command and get approved. Sucks.

ok, i don't really mean to keep arguing here, but......

Brookfield is an investment firm that purchased longview fibre from the Wallenberg family several years ago. When they did so, they split the timber division into a separate entity, longview timber llc. Brookfield is located in Canada, longview timnber llc is in longview. One street over from the mill itself.

They purchased the company to aquire the timber lands, and as of last year are looking to dump the paper mill and box plants, but keep the timber lands under the longview timber name.

No argument here. If you are interested in obtaining a permit, contact the Longview Timber security office in OR. I believe you can turn in your paperwork there. It will then have to be approved by corprate in Canada.
Longview Timber does manage the property but final approval comes from Corprate in Canada.

Maybe it's just me, but when i read your first statement, part looks like fact, part looks like rumor. That's why i'm still unsure of what really is truth.

Did you call and talk to somebody about it to get the info? Or was it told to you by somebody that it was this way? Mainly i'm hoping that it's all rumor cause i really would hate to loose this field, or run the chance of when using it, to get kicked off mid game and fined for it.

I haven't spoken to anyone yet, have calls in to a local timber manager for the company, waiting on a call back today. I'm mainly going on what the signs posted say, the land use rules, and what's always been in oregon for using longview fibre property.

So i'm just crossing my fingers and hoping to get a decent answer from the company. Either way i'll put up what we find out.

I spoke to the Chief Of Security, Longview Timber CO. He said all past permits are invalid. He issued the original permit to PLA. He outlined what it would take to get a permit as described above.

I contacted him because I was seeking permission for use of some land for an airsoft event. The land was in a different area not in Scapoose but he's in charge of the whole region. He was helpful but he warned that police would be involved for any unauthorized games on any of their land.

I don't deal in rumors. Just facts. Especially with something like this that could have such dire consequences for airsoft players and the airsoft community.

WE DON'T WANT ARMED POLICE ENTERING AN AIRSOFT GAME!

Thanks for the heads up. They had posted new "No Trespassing" signs at the Scappoose property but I figured it was just the locals.

Those signs are just the locals. That property is privately owned.

I'm still having trouble with this to be honest. And i'm going to call, have calls into, both the local and corporate offices. If i can hunt on their property, be it rifle or bow, and during deer season drive in when the gates are opened, how can we not play airsoft for free?

It seems to contradict their normal policies they have for all other land use.
