The BEST Lubricant?:>> Teflon (no kidding)

Postby Kitfox » Thu Apr 26, 2012 12:06 pm

I Cant help but LMFAO everytime someone recommends Silicone oil as "the industry standard" for Airsoft. It's Bullsh!t. An Industrial inside joke. We are all being hoodwinked,... For a long time companies wanted a cheap alternative to the "aliphatic mixtures" and Hydrocarbons that are so vehemently hated by eco-freak regulatory depts from Government.
Oh, its either the "Hole in the Ozone" or the spotted owl,.."save the whales" or "save those snails" etc.

Teflon, is in Tri-Flow lubricant...THAT IS WHAT YOU SHOULD BE USING!

Silicone is the crap the scrape together from petroleum.

Teflon is A TRUE Lubricant, Nasa space program uses it. Especially when their is billions of dollars at stake.. A good reason to gauge the importance of why to use THE RIGHT TOOL for the right job.

So anyway, just use Tri-Flow guys, you can get a ton more of it for a LOT LESS ca$h!

Remember always, ALWAYS shake the can before each use.. and relax, your lubrication problem is gonna be OVER, period.
I cant tell you how disappointed I was just one week after using Silicone oil on my expensive FPG and other Airsoft guns..DAMN! I was Mad. all my guns didnt stay lubricated, they were all...BONE DRY! WTF?! Thats when I asked some Nasa Electromechanical Engineers. WOw..It sure pays to do ones own research.

Thanks for reading, All see you all out on the fields.. :)

I'm kind of skeptical about this.

Should I side with everyone ever, who all seem to be fine with silicone? Or with some random guy who joined AP two months ago, who goes on a barely coherent rant about silicone conspiracies and Teflon?

I think I'll stick with silicone.

Ya every one else or you hmmm, no offense to you but your going to have to prove that it works better then tried and tested silicon first.

Yeah. This. I didn't think people used silicon inside the gearbox. I've always used white lithium, and when I re-open the box years later it's still there.

In this case he's right. Tri-flow Teflon based lube is better than silicone. It lubricates better and lasts longer than silicone and wont harm your gun. I have been using it in place of silicone for 2 years with no problems. I have friends who have been using it for 5+ years with no problems and nothing but good things to say about it.

OP might want to be a bit more specific. Tri-flow has several products, and silicone based lubes are appropriate for certain airsoft applications like static o-rings found in GBB pistols or rifles...
I do hope that after all this discreditable shuffling we may be taken into action. It has a wonderful way of reconciling a man with himself: and with everybody else, sometimes. - 1st Lt. James Dillon

I can relay my experience:

Tri Flow "Superior Lubricant" type, drip bottle:

-2 years use on AEG barrel, hopup and magizines
-2 years use on GBB pistol Barrel, hopup, internal parts and magizines

No observed problems or deterioration of any parts. No effect on rubber buckings or o-rings.
