First off, you said in your intro post that you're training your guys. I suggest you get someone who knows what they're doing to do the training.

If you don't have someone qualified to train, I suggest you just get the group used to playing together. The more you play together, the better you work as a team.

Beyond that, you can use military training manuals as references, but don't follow them completely. They are a guide to give you the principles, which you can apply to airsoft. Don't trust anybody offering training who has prior military experience unless they're AT LEAST an E4 (Specialist/Corporal) or an O3 (Captain). Any lower ranks and you'll get a lot of BS and saluting.

There's a good book called "Airsoft and paintball battle tactics" that is basically just a rewritten infantry platoon operations manual. (Really, there's actually no references to airsoft or paintball guns inside the cover.)

It covers the basics of security, patrolling, offensive and defensive operations.

Just look up Battle Drills from FM 7-8.

Battle Drills called "Squad Attack" "React to Contact" "Break Contact"

and then decide within your group how to facilitate communication. Hand/arm signals, radios, whatevs.

Tactics are overrated. Just shoot the other guy before he shoots you.

Shoot a lot, ammo is cheap.

Move a lot, it's harder to get shot if you are moving.

Don't hump a tree all day.

Dan has the right of it. The most important part of facilitating group cohesion is just playing regularly together. Skirmishes are good. I don't know how big your team is, but even 3 on 3 in a confined space will help you guys a lot. Other than that, go to games! Have fun! Don't stress.

Communication is pretty easy to figure out if you KISS it. Don't overthink it. Don't have twelve hand signals for "I see a guy behind that tree." :) Good luck!

LOL!!!!! Hilarious:D okay i'll check those out. A good reason to know these things is to keep yourself alive a little longer in the events. I don't wanna bring a team of guys to a event and spend an hour being dead lol:) just good to have communication

Show up and play. There's nothing better than experience. Also, the more you work with the guys on your team, the better you'll be as a cohesive unit. It doesn't matter how you train, there's no right way and no wrong way as long as you are staying alive and accomplishing your objectives.

If you make contact try to move so the enemy can't make a fix on you. If it only two of you, one moves forward while the other provides covering fire. This is repeated with both guys. In a team of four or more. Move your guys by groups of two(or three depending on team size). One group provides covering fire while the other group moves forward and is repeated.

When it comes to formations there only three you should really know. The Stager(Moving on a road or the woods), The Dimond(Open area, or portection deatail), and The Wedge(Which is used like a dimond minuns the protection part, and is used to cover more ground). If your clearing a hallway. The The Y formation is used(Which is like a dimond, but the two side guys move forward creating a Y. Mainly used in CQB). All of these formation can collaspe into one another so its easier to move into.

I hope this helps.
