eco friendly means that it does not produce toxic material into the environment under natural conditions. PVC (which is the main material for what we refer to as non bio bbs) under the right conditions is considered eco friendly. Although normally it does not harm the environmental however it does produce a "visual" pollution , and also we have camp fires on the field; when PVC is burned it will release dioxins which is a highly toxic compound that is a persistent organic pollutant.

actually what is happening is that I am going to offer it pre-pay for $18 and and onsite for $20 since I have to bring it to the field. With all of us trying to go the pre-pay way the less cash handling and less I have to carry on hand, I can give a small discount. and it only went up $2 BTW ;-)

BTW the policy has been updated. We may go through a few small revisions until we get it right but the majority is where we want it to stand.

We may also revisit the Field Ammo thing for 2013. I was granted the rollback on the policy for the remainder of this year. Let's see where we wind up.

Some kid is going to bring normal bbs in and they will not be noticed until picked up off the ground.
With so many events and player count at nearly all games hosted here, it's inevitable.
What's going to happen when it does? Is Greg going to get angry again and shut it down for good?
I'd sure hope not, as this situation seems like a ticking time bomb.

You are absolutely correct in your assessment. This is a FDA food safety issue regarding the hazelnut farm which is the main source of income for the owners of this field. The FDA has recently cracked down regarding hazelnut operations due to an incident in 2010 I believe it was. The hazelnut industry ( I grow em too) is trying to avoid compulsory regulation from the FDA by policing itself and thereby avoiding onerous regulations. If we as a hobby group cannot/will not police our selves, well, then sniperzden will cease to exist for airsoft. The amount of revenue that we generate in comparison to the hazelnut crop is minuscule by comparison. Thats The long and the short of it, you don't have to like it, thats the way it is.

I 100% support the stance of the field owners. Your livelihood depends upon your farming operation and not the operation of the field, that is just a side-business. Someone is going to feel real shitty if they jeopardize someone's entire business by being a cheap bastard and trying to save a couple bucks. This is just ridiculous.

Well, in about 2 months when the field is shutdown because we didn't go with Rick's field ammo, and we're stuck with shitty half assed fields as backup, then people will realize that Rick was trying to do the community good.

After Scappoose gets logged we're going to be down to just a few fields. And a few i don't think i want to visit.

We will be revisiting the Field Ammo Only possibility for 2013 sometime in the 4th quarter of 2012, if we make it that long.

Wait..Wait. It wasn't my policy and it wasn't just my ammo. It was collective effort to apease the owners issues since I help run the airsoft duties at the field and they wanted my expertise on how we could avoid some of their issues. The bio ammo was the responsibility of the host. I just happened to be the only game since the policy was created.

I vote for field ammo only. I have hazlenuts as well and i dont even ride the atv in the orchard in the winter because it will cause difficulties (ruts) for farming in the summer, the sweepers they use to collect nuts will pick up every single airsoft bb they come in contact with. We need some strict policies to regulate it, like admins doing constant random ammo checks (like the random searches at the airport just effective.) if admins carry a set of pliers to crush the bb non bio will shatter where bio will crush and you will be able to see the off color starch base.

As long as they don't touch my a$$ we're good.
But on a more serious note it would be more of a hassle for admins. They already seem to do enough for us. The real solution to this is as others have stated is to police ourselves. Making sure you and your friends are using bio's makes a big difference in helping our community survive.

Because non bio ammo is labeled in the way you described.

Teams (new and old) should not under any circumstances allow for a single player on that team to play at ANY outdoor field with non-bio.

Problems are with the independents and new players who don't know any better, don't read the game rules, don't get policed by veteran players. Face it a lot of the new players know about the games from their friends who have played and don't tell them the rules in this respect.

IMO every single player at every level needs to abide by & police the ammo rules. Don't just turn a blind eye and let the responsibility fall to the host & admins. If you are taking a command role in the game then this rule should also be reinforced in your command briefing. Squad leaders if you have someone on your squad and you don't recognize them then ask them to make sure and check any ammo that they have brought with them on the field. We ALL own this.

You don't have to turn them in. Just take the crap away from them and put it in the trash. They will find a way to get ammo, either someone with give them a bag or they will have to go buy it from the field/host. Just make sure you find a way to get rid of it without making them feel like a complete loser they probably just had no idea. Let's face it NO ONE is going to walk up to any host and go "Hey, can I use this?" after hearing a general rule announcement. They are just going to keep their head down and hope they don't get caught. Some, not all, in the community are not all that understanding and tend to call those out that are not as educated on the subject and do not realize the impact. So don't make them feel like a douche! Just say hey you can't play with that it's non-bio and explain why. They don't need to be punished just educated.

Hosts (I know this cuts into your bottom line a little and it isn't your fault) I suggest that anyone that has the balls and is responsible enough to turn in their non-bio at anytime during the day...you should give them a really good deal on a bag of bio. At least they owned up to it and aren't ruining it for the rest of us.
