How do you treat your airsoft guns? Also, worn or pristine?

Postby God » Tue Mar 20, 2012 5:04 pm

This is an opinion thread.

Wondering what your guys' thoughts are on the "used" look on guns(mainly M4s, but others welcome too) compared to pristine. I prefer the used look to well, make it look used. I treat my primary like shit. I drop it, slide it over rocks/mud, shit, I'll throw it if I feel the necessity. I'm mostly worried about my optic breaking(which is why it's a cheap AimPoint with lens covers).

P.S. My primary is a CA M15A4 EBB with Prometheus gears, SHS piston, and the reinforced CA EBB gearbox, real steel rails, PTS CTR/MOE stock, PTS Pistol grip, PTS RVG. So it can take a beating...

My handguns are another story, they're treated like glass due to the fact they seem more breakable.

If it's worn, worn is a good look. If you've carefully dusted your rifle with paint in all the right places, it's a pretty sight but it isn't for me. Guns earn their stripes, just like men earn their scars. Don't go slicing up your arms to be cool. :D

Fair enough, the only thing is that you really can't leave wet mud on your M4 "for looks". It'd get in the house and whatnot. Which is why I believe some people choose to dust it instead with paint.

Eh. I had mud on all the edges of my site, mag well, etc. It gets knocked off, sure, but so does the mud on real guns. :)

I clean my guns off after use.

My WE pistol is slowly losing its paint though.

And my AEG can't get that nice worn look unless I paint it or something, damn polymer construction.

But I don't abuse my rifle too much. It gets the dirt cleaned off when I get home every time, along with my side arm.

I have an AKM. I take it through hell and then some. I recently refinished it, so I need to beat it up again.

Guns are meant to be abused and they should show it. If it's not beat up, you're doing it wrong. Go harder.

My AK is held together with duct tape and is made from spare parts. Last game I was at, the gas block broke and I don't even know how. I treat it like an AK.

Nice, by the way, likin' that SCAR... lol Although, what is up with people using scopes on SCARs so often? I see this in both airsoft and BF3...
