Bullshit. My face has been COVERED in blood by guns shooting under 400. People (myself included) have lost teeth.

Evil Zergling137 wrote:...if it is unsafe for you to use your weapon at that distance then you can't safety kill with it...

Zergling, what is the point of a safety kill to you?

I've seen people lose teeth to guns shooting under 300fps.

Eye pro protects your eyes. mouth pro protects your mouth. One is optional. Hell, Zergling has lost a tooth as well. I've been shot in the tooth 3 times now (no teeth lost, I think it's because I ate a whole bottle of fluoride as a child. Oops)

The point of a safety kill is to be safe. Protect people. But we're playing a game shooting BBs at each other at high rates of speed.

If you don't want blood, wear a face mask. If you don't want a tooth knocked out, wear a mouth guard.

Sounds like you want a courtesy kill, not a safety kill.

The way I see it.

You you are putting some one in peril, you have an obligation to INFORM A PLAYER OF THEIR PERIL.

Call for surrender.

If you have some one in clear line or sight, or within 10ft. A range that you can assume peril for the person being engaged. Call for surrender.

If a player calls for your surrender you have the right to DEFY that surrender at your OWN PERIL.

Wear your mouth guards. Wear your eye pros. I've seen 300fps knock out teeth. I will never play with out a mouth guard.

As a matter of safety a player HAS THE RIGHT TO KNOW THEIR PERIL. Point blank executions have no place in this sport.

If you have time to assess your peril and chose to defy the surrender order, the result is on you.

If I am claiming victory over you by calling for your surrender I am doing for your safety and for sportsmanship sake.

If you make a run for it, or try to shoot back. You are more then welcome. I have informed you of your peril.

Enforce proper safety gear. A 10 foot safety bang rule isn't going to save your teeth from getting shot out. Not while 500fps snipers, 450fps LMGs, and 400fps AEGs are out on the field.

Any time you do not protect your "vitals" you are taking a risk of having that "old patrol boy" paying a visit that round and ruining your day.

I hate having face masks on, but they are not something I would play with out. They are vital to having peace of mind in this sport.

I would rather support mouth guards and proper eyewear then having some kid fresh off of COD rushing around corners screaming bang in my face.

You cannot count on some one not getting spooked and shooting you in the face at exactly 11ft and blasting your teeth out.

Again; in simple.

All players have the RIGHT TO SURRENDER.

You have the RIGHT to be informed of your peril if you are unaware of your level of peril. Walking up behind some one and putting your sniper rifle to the back of their head and executing them is not acceptable.

You have the RIGHT to defy a surrender if you are informed of your peril. You have the right to fight till your death. Once your hit your out, but if you have no been shot you have not died and you are still in the game unless you VOLUNTARILY remove your self from the game.

Unjust and poor acts such as executions, and lighting people up at close range are not acceptable to me.

As far as my thinking goes the surrender theory is the best due to it's accountability.

It is my responsibility to inform you of your peril, and to call the surrender.

It is your right when called to surrender to defy it at your own peril.

The point of a safety kill is to humiliate people on the field who think they are hot shit

And to a lesser extent:
To tell the guy who isn't calling the semiauto hit on him that he is in fact dead.
And to avoid railing people in full auto at close range.
To kill people who approach you thinking you are on their team

One of my major sticking points is that I don't want people advancing with bolts in such a way as to come into short range contact. I think that when this happens people should either pass up the shot (happens a lot) or call themselves out and exit the area.

I'm totally for not allowing bolts to call safety kills, but I disagree with everything else.

The whole "Surrender or Die" thing originated from paintball. We're not paintballers, we're airsofters. Surrendering is optional. Taking a safety kill is not. There's a difference.
I'm no gearwhore. I prefer "Connoisseur of Fine Tactical Garments".

It's my understanding this was the point of requiring players with bolt rifles to have a side arm of some sort.

I've heard about one person being famous for calling safety kills with his bolt rifle at a long distance. This is bullshit.
If you're going to run a bolt, you need to carry another weapon of some sort. Otherwise, shazaam off with your safety kills.

Real men when close enough to warrant a safety kill rush them with dummy knives and nerf swords anyway.

Well that asshole with the gun should have called safety kill instead of gone for the face shot. Duh.

Lets be real here. "SURRENDER OR DIE" did not originate with paintball. I'm sure paintballers also invented funny looking jerseys and inflatable buildings too. Such concepts have been around long before people shot paint at each other.

You can blast some ones teeth out from well out of the 10-15 foot range.

Does not escape that fact that saying "10ft or in is dangerous" is complete propaganda. Even CQB guns can shatter your teeth at further then 10ft out.

And what about the players who view "bangs" as "COD STYLE HUMILIATION KILL LAWL U SUCK OMG LOLROFLLMAO."

You make further dangerous situations when you encourage players to get closer to each other to make for easier kills.

Better to just sneak in and yell bang at every one. More reliable then shooting. All you have to do is blaze every one with your muzzle and scream them to death. Who knows if you would of even hit them.

Why would you shoot at 20 feet and possibly miss?

Oh what happens when the guy just goes "OH I COULDN'T HEAR YOU!" and shoots back anyway? Who knows if he heard you. Maybe he has "deaf ear syndrome" and can't hear crap that means he's dead.

Call it what you will.

I will never play this sport without face protection. I hate wearing face masks but it's not something that is negotiable. 400fps guns can screw your smile up with a quickness. Snipers running heavy bbs and high FPS can shatter a tooth from even further. You can't count on BBs to fly right were they are aimed, and you cannot count on players not panic shooting at 11ft or 12ft.

The simple issue with BANG rules is that player abuse them, and you either need refs or different rules that accomplish the level sportsmanship that we want to see in the game.

Executions are not acceptable, but having an "auto kill" for who ever yells quicker isn't the solution. As far as I am concerned, until the BB hits you, or you surrender you aren't dead.

Now grenades and bunker tags are a little different and need to be for the sake of practicality.

First of all I think you should learn how to use a paragraph. Second I think we're at (actually past) the point of having people agree. AP has their standard rules for safety kills, which seems clear. Each event organizer can make their own rules or just use AP standards. For all my future games I will include detailed rules of how safety kills will work.

I think the topic started to discuss different people's opinions as well as my challenge to the the fact that the current AP standard is that you can't challenge a safety kill. Challenge.

Opinion aside the first step is having standardized rules so people know exactly what's going on. Most issues do not come from dedicated players but new players who don't know better, or think they are jumping on the fast track to "cool."

PS, I won't use paragraphs.

PSS, sorry for the walls of texts. I had nothing better to do but ramble. My bad.
