AIRSOFT GRENADES. AND other things I've learn to love.

After spending nearly 50 BUCKS on A SINGLE Snicker 360 MK-2 airsoft grenade that either blows up in your hand or doesnt go off AT ALL.. It got me wondering, how many others have spent money like that on frivolous gimmicks. I would like to hear your feedback, give a product review on something you love, something you hate?
(All this design flaw and engineering failure from 'made in China' crap,..It makes me want to design my own and give good ole' American Ingenuity a try!

i bought a tornado grenade that ive never been please with. It never seems to work the way it did originally.

For outdoor play, I feel like the exploding, BB propelling grenades are 90% gimmick. Often times theyre used in conjunction with a grenade launcher on the rifle which can look really cool, but also add some inconvenient weight in the front.

I say that having been killed by a 203 once, while I was hiding behind the Silverton blackberry bushes, which I am pretty sure would stop most ACP rounds. It was cool and impressive, the other guy got a good laugh out of how effective it was.

Most games allow you to create your own grenades, so if you're cheap just throw things at people to kill them. Preferably not heavy/dangerous things...

Won a Tornado grenade a few years back. It broke because I used it like a grenade.

40mm grenades are cool. When using BBs they work like shotguns, but if you use the Nerf footballs they can be very effective.

I have a bunch of dummy stick grenades that I am very fond of. Most games with buildings have grenade rules, and more and more games make use of them outside as well. I'd say dummies are the best way to go.

I think I have 4 tornado grenades that I've never managed to make work right. Like, not once time.

I have a couple of the snicker grenades. I have a feeling they got their name because the sales reps kept snickering every time someone actually bought one. Ditto the sometimes don't work, sometimes just blow up because it's tweak o'clock thing.

I've had pretty good luck with the Thunder B grenades. Even I can't manage to screw those up, apparently.

The ALS training bangs are expensive, but they have probably the best and simplest system I've seen. You get a small flash, and a decent sized boom. But they were $150 for a starter set (5 fuses and a body) and $75 for a 5-pack of refills.

I had a couple of the ASC-7 airsoft claymore mines. Those were great for practical jokes. Never got a chance to use them in a game. But they were great for practical jokes. They had a remarkably awesome remote detonator based on a rolling code system. They also had a magnetic break switch. Which meant I could hide the mine, and rig the magnetic switch on the door and doorframe. Or refrigerator door and frame. Or coffeemaker and coffeepot. I basically turned a Navy Lt. spastic with a pair of them.

And the remote detonator worked really well. It beat the then-current Warlock and Duke systems, although hopefully that has changed in the intervening 5 years. (Our shop was basically next to the Tobyhana shop, and we used to geek out).

I love these, however I've heard that both the body and fuses are now classified as destructive devices by the BATF.

Really? That's just crap.

It explains why it's next to impossible to find them. At least the Thunder B grenades are still like $4 a toss, including CO2. I just wish the grenady bits were a little more rugged. I'd pay more for ones that lasted more than 24 tosses.

I went through about 60 bodies using 6 cores (10 shells per core, basically). Of the 6 cores, three of the spoons popped off and bent or broke the retaining pin (which is an easy fix), and one of the spots where the spoon / core connection loops are broke off. All in all, not perfect. But still, totally worth it. In fact, I'd have been okay with all 6 up and quitting, because I got to watch one of our medics see the grenade fly over the wall, and he basically abandoned his patient and launched himself away from it in terror.

Of course, a few months earlier, this same guy was taking a leak in a small concrete bathroom when I booted the door open, yelled "bang out", and tossed one in. It popped, and he peed everywhere. The wall, the toilet, the guy in the next stall's boot. Everywhere. So, it's kinda my fault that he has "the fear" when it comes to training bangs.

Of course, a few months earlier, this same guy was taking a leak in a small concrete bathroom when I booted the door open, yelled "bang out", and tossed one in. It popped, and he peed everywhere. The wall, the toilet, the guy in the next stall's boot. Everywhere. So, it's kinda my fault that he has "the fear" when it comes to training bangs.

I laughed, hard.

I'm having a strange experience with my thunder B's. The CO2 capsules are too long, thus requiring additional washers. So mind the CO2 you buy. But once I got them working, they're fantastic, but blow about 2 seconds after the spoon is released.

I've seen the grenade shells filled with bb's, they seem to work ok, probably the most consistent way to fling bb's around a grenade device...

Talc powder seems to be effective, and wouldn't make me irritated that I was covered in something.

Had a good laugh reading some of these stories. Sure hope you dont depend on that Medic for anything involving saving your life lol

But as a noob to mil sim airsoft, in a hard core sim, not a backwoods skirmish, are grenades frequently used? is it worth it to invest in any grenade system?

I can definitely say the dummies are worth it. At some games I've considered my grenades to be my primary, with a shotgun and/or pistol for a secondary.

This made me laugh so hard. I had a Thunder B for a while (I think it landed in a creek in the middle of BFE somewhere) that always made for a good party trick. Especially when you see the look on the guys' faces that know what it is (the others learn quickly).

Only problem I ever had with it was I ended up with a couple of shells that didn't burst, so we had to shoot 'em to make them safe to retrieve.
