If you (NFS_Shadow) were capable of pulling something like this off (you're not), I would go. But in reality, I'd bet there's maybe ONE person on this whole forum who's capable of doing it, and they'd probably never go for it after considering cost, planning time and effort, and in-game management.

in response to everybody else yea you are all pretty close in your observations. I am 16 and do have a good load of school work and planning goes on in my free time. the game will happen in national forest so it's illegal for me to charge for this, i will however ask for a small 5 dollar donation to offset the cost of fuel (for generators in both camps and the stoves as well as the atvs we might be able to use (still trying to confirm that one) I won't run off with your money, i will keep track of all payments and if needed i will be able to refund that money (say we have to cancel, or you end up not coming) there will however be a cutoff date for you to cancel because once i purchase fuel im not dipping into my pocket for your refund.

the full post with all info for this will be up im hoping this friday. i'm still trying to confirm us being able to use the forest. (it's legal but i want confirmation from the forest service)

in response to the worries about other people stumbling into our game i know this is an issue. bow hunting season however does not start till mid august if i remember correctly and we will be far enough into the woods that nobody should stumble upon us by accident. This will of course not be perfect and we will have to halt gameplay if anybody is spotted (command net will be in place) and then myself and probably another team member will approach them unarmed and attempt to explain what is happening.

We will be doing this on 3 square miles of forest. everyone will be required to have a compass and a map so that nobody gets lost. somebody getting lost is my second biggest fear/problem i have with doing this.

I know this will not be perfect, i'm going to extensively plan this but this is for airsofters who are serious about doing this only. it will be small but it will be fun.

one last thing. since this will be on public land everybody will have to have an orange tip, it's the law there's nothing i can do about it. this will also help towards solving the problem of having somebody with a real firearm stumble upon us and thinking we have real assault rifles.

Yes a 48hr OP will be cool. It's just to much work to plan. I think you should stop the plannig for now. Then pick it up after we hosted a few games. All the events we will be hosting have been already planed. These one are simple, and easy to do. Some of the props can be easy made and cheap to buy(or even free).

@ ivan. Really? was pretty sure the law saws that you are supposed to have an orange tip on it in public. also it is a good idea just to be a little on the cautious side. that way people will recognize easier that they are not real weapons.

and also just got off the phone with the forest service. i might have to get a special use permit but other then that everything should be good.

and osprey. team website forums? i know that you would rather host small events first but i'd like to do this as well. we will have done a few small ones anyways before this roles around. this just requires huge ammounts of planning. We should discuss this then. chat at 8 o clock tonight?

Here are the problems I see with this:

1) You are 16. You do not have the time needed to make this go off properly. Between school, "life", and everything else high schooler's deal with, your game will be half assed.

2) You are 16. You don't have the experience, the resources, or ability to form the adult relationships needed between yourself and field owners/sponsors/admins/players that you need to make something like this go off.

3) You are new here. You don't have the experience to get something like this go get off the ground. You may think you know what something like this needs, but you really don't.

4) You have never hosted an event before. Why should we trust that your event will be fantastic? I seem to remember a person who came on here, offered a lot of cool stuff, didn't deliver, and took off with our money.




So, given my points above, why should we trust you to put on a 48hr Op that will not underdeliver?

You still have not shown that you are trustworthy enough to not shazaam up the reputation of airsoft in the eyes of the USFS...

Yeah, right. I'm an airsofter--I know about orange tips, but it's still not the first thing I look for when I see a couple of guys with AR's in the woods. I generally look for cover first. Orange tips won't keep Joe from flipping out.
