Lets face facts - even though we tend to weed out cheaters pretty quick, we're not immune to them either.

If your going to play a mixed match like that, the paintballers will have to understand AND follow the honor system. Airsoft guns simply don't mark players. It would be no different than any other 'airsoft' game at that point, except half the players will be using MPEG-range guns with significantly more kinetic energy.

Full masks would be required for all players because paintballs can deform the face enough to cause gaps in full-seal eyepro and lead to potential eye injury (that's why paintball masks are made the way they are!)

What about the logistics and rules for the different weapon types? 300fps limit for everyone? Paintballers have that SAFE limit. Do the airsoft guys get to run 400fps? 500+ boltactions? Seems a bit unfair, even if the teams are mixed projectile types. Even with a 300FPS hard limit for everyone, a decently tuned AEG will still out range a paintball gun (in level shots) and have better accuracy.

I say that it's totally POSSIBLE to make it happen, but it's certainly not a fair, balanced adventure, and has alot of hurdles your players would all have to agree to, AND follow for the safety of everyone player - let alone the fun factor.

I really don't see the point. Just because the sports are similar doesn't mean you have to merge them both in one game. You don't see people trying to merge Rugby and Football(NOT SOCCER!)together, or Baseball and Cricket together.

I would imagine there would HAVE TO BE some BIG incentive to want to "wrestle with the pigs" as they say.. some sort of prize (a BIG one) to be offer for an Airsoft "Win". Nobody wants paint-ball-spoodge on their airsoft gear. And the rules of engagement would have to be "kosher" and practically "set in stone", as the Ten Commandments-agreed with BOTH sides.

Seems dicey, but all in all..to be even "Worth all that effort" a major video production and/or in controversial proof of video footage of the paintballers team getting "Slammed hard" (an obvious result) would have to be done!! --This may make it worth it, and worth its weight in GOLD..bragging rights aside, and would put an END to the age old question; "which type of scenario (i.e. paintball vs. airsoft) is more realistic to a combat scenario.

Dont know who would be that video person... BUT my several years of professional Elk, Bear, Deer hunting videography should qualify me as someone apt to do the job..?? Am I willing to do that? ABSOLUTELY!!! (Just as long as its not on Sunday)

I'm getting the feeling, the general answer is this is a bad idea. I'll pass that word on, but as someone said, more than likely they'll ignore me and do it anyways. But, I'm not going to have any involvement in the idea. It can only end in tears.

One more point to make before the lock:

Has anyone ever been told BY a paintballer the reason they wear masks with rubber faceparts and loose clothing?

If you have, then you will recall that in paintball you are not out if you are hit, you are out if the ball breaks. Paintballers wear clothing and masks that can absorb shock better than tactical gear so they can take a hit and not break the ball.

This just screams impossible. How will the paintballers know when they are hit by airsoft BBs instead of paint at night time? Especially grazing hits etc.

Besides the obvious and ominous "evil sewing machines in the dark" you would hear, there's no way to be SURE that they are shooting at you unless they are unloading on you.
