The reason I'm here.

Postby SleepyDave » Sun Feb 26, 2012 12:50 pm

So, as you all know, I got out of airsoft a while ago, due to not playing, because the time, gas, and financial commitments just weren't happening. Thats another story.

Recently, my wife and I became involved with a group of people on campus who have something of a novel idea for a game. I decided not to shoot them down as soon as they told me the details, but I have more than a few doubts.

The idea is, an Easter egg hunt, at night. What their scoring rules are, I have no idea.

Where it gets really Charlie Foxtrot is, they want to do it as a Combined Arms game, with a mix of paintballers and airsofters on each team. The group we were approached by is a couple of friends who are paintballers, and a couple of friends who apparently play airsoft in the area. I'm assured they are at least over 18, because this group is from our college campus, but what they are beyond that is unknown to me.

Do I tell them this is the worst idea I've ever heard, because I'm pretty sure it is, or do I at least provide some logistical support to them to see if they can make it work?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but paintballers and airsofters, on the larger scheme, just don't mix, and any attempts to ignore or change that usually end in horror or disappear into the ether. Let me hear some feedback people, because if AP thinks it could work, then there might actually be a chance.

This is a terrible idea.

There is pretty close to no chance that they will believe you when you tell them it is a terrible idea.

When it happens, and it will, It needs to end up on YouTube. Maybe then the next group can look at the video and realize how much of a train wreck it will turn out to be.

Hate paint on gear.
I do hope that after all this discreditable shuffling we may be taken into action. It has a wonderful way of reconciling a man with himself: and with everybody else, sometimes. - 1st Lt. James Dillon

No. I say bad idea. Not only are night games difficult to pull off safely but putting paint and airsoft in the same place at night is, I think, a really bad idea.

Most airsofters would not enjoy it. Some of them will phony pony about paint on their gear, others will phony pony about having to wear a full mask. If they don't wear a full mask, bad injuries could happen, especially at night. The only reason I see to mix paintball and Airsoft would be if somebody at an Airsoft milsim event wanted to use paintballs to mark targets like tanks or other vehicles as killed.

Besides, once the paintballers run out of ammo ... they lose. Shit I'd just wait it out. There goes $50 in Ammo, now I've still got 5,000 rounds in my box mag. With superior range, superior ammo capacity, Airsoft has the edge. But what makes you think Paintballers are going to call hits when there's no markings? That's where this whole event fails.

Yeah! Airsoft gun are superior. Paintball guns belong back in the stone age.

Your right Matt. Wait untill they run out of ammo then strike. So what if they don't call there hit's. Keep shooting them until they bleed. There blood will leave a mark. :D
