Hrmmm, i just spent two days removing a paint job just like that :)

Not a bad job tho, just not my cup of tea with the style. Attention to detail tho makes a difference. You should have removed the dust cover, the mag release, the grip, the right side selector indicator, the selector switch and the 4 little buttons on the body and not painted those. Your hands cover the grip while shooting so no need to paint that.

I have used DuPont Duplicolor (SP?) Bed liner, Its in a rattle can bought at Riley Auto Parts.

I have used it on hi wear areas, like grips. So far it has worked out well.

That's a really good idea. Is it good to go from the can or did you need any special prep work?

If you have access to chemical lab substances to prep a good paint job, try hexane. Its more effective than acetone, and does the same job as rubbing alcohol, except that it strips paint and replaces water that might affect proper paint adhesion.

Im just saying...

It dehydrates whatever it comes into contact with other than metal.

Taken from working in a biochemistry lab and cleaning beakers with sticky adhesives on it.

EDIT: Nice mesh work...
