Payback and McNair, that is ultimately what I had in mind. If you guys dont mind and have the measurements you used, I would love to see them. Thanks!

Well, Payback already has his built up, so he can help you out first.
I have my measurements/plans drawn out, but I'd like to see how it turns out for me before throwing them out there. Mostly because I don't trust my plan work as I have little to no experience in doing it. hah.

the boards i used are 37" long, and that's only because that was the length they were for the bed they came from. It's really basic, you should be able to see how it goes together by the photos. If not, i can get close up's for you. Also the boards are 1x2's. Actual measurement is 1" x 2.5". It can be made out of anything, 2x4's and just screws for hardware. The top is held together by two bolts and a hole drilled to allow the legs to swing out.

Is there anything keeping them upright?

Looks pretty damn good, and excellent repurposing of materials.

Gravity is all that holds them down, and a slight angle they sit at. The stand is very light, but once you get a few guns on it, it was fairly stable, i shook it back and forth and it wasn't going to tip over. The guns will fall out first.

I am going to add dowels, or 1x1's in between the barrels, you could add some bungee, or a latch system (simple metal tabs and 1 screw) to keep the guns secure by attaching it to the 1x1's. Bungee would would work also, but just laying the rack at a steeper angle would do it to.

Dowels sound good, that's what I was referring to. I might have to cobble one of those together when I move.
