Magazine types

Postby Bircher » Sun Jan 08, 2012 11:38 pm

I know this may sound like a stupid question but...

What kind of magazine types are there? I already know about high caps and mid caps, but is there anything else?

Standard caps. Drum mags. Box mags. Nut sacks. Cmags.
You really nailed the basic two.

There is also google.

High caps (300-500 rounds, depending on platform... usually)
Mid-caps (90-120)
Standards (Tokyo Marui "Standard", 68 rounds)
Low/real caps (20-30, depending on platform)

That's pretty much the gist of it. Add in box magazines (ugh) and you have a few more.

The only three weapon types you can really get away at least look wise with drum magazines that aren't light machine guns are full-length G36s (pretending to be the woefully inadequate MG36), AK types (due to drum magazines in the real world being relatively common for 7.62x39 weapons), and old-school submachine guns like the Thompson 1928, PPSh-41 and Suomi M31. Otherwise, stick with the normal ones.

Aks have super-caps which are around 1000rds (could be considered a High cap mag)

Lonex makes a "flash" mag which are high caps but it is string wound before use and needs no additional winding.

Don't for get light mags. Those are pretty cool.
